Let’s just be honest. Democrats never liked the War on Terror. They never really supported it. There were a lot of reasons for this. Some were partisan - they just didn’t want to support anything George W. Bush wanted to do. Some were ideological - they really didn’t believe we had the right to pursue our enemies, and they just plain didn’t want to because they don’t like when the U.S. uses force aggressively. Some were strategic - if they backed the idea that we should be doing this sort of thing, they gave tacit approval to the use of funds they would prefer to spend on more Democrat-friendly priorities.

The Obama Administration is obsessed with leaks. Not the information it carefully leaks on its own, but the leaked stories which prove inconvenient for the Administration’s carefully crafted narratives. This serves as an extension of the White House’s emphatic desire to control all media accounts of itself, and craft a positive image before the public. Thus, even in the case of national security, leaks are designed to enhance the Administration’s profile. For those that aren’t, the reporters better watch out.

Here’s a great new video from Jason Mattera, in which he tries to ask Chuck Schumer and Al Franken about their role in the IRS’s anti-Tea Party policies. Both men sent letters to the Internal Revenue Service demanding investigations into “political groups masquerading as social welfare groups.”

This afternoon, Barack Obama gave a long, disjointed, and rambling speech about drones, Gitmo, privacy rights, war, courts, freedom of the press, Islam, national security, Iraq, Bush, and, well, a whole bunch of stuff. Frankly, it was one of the sloppiest speeches we’ve ever seen him give - one probably designed to draw attention away from his scandal-ridden administration.
