Barack Hussein Obama compares himself to Theodore Roosevelt

Thank you, Charles Krauthammer, for reminding me of your words of wisdom. I tend not to listen to Barrack Hussein Obama’s speeches. His rhetoric annoys me. In the words of highly respected commentator, Charles Krauthammer, “Watch what he does, not what he says.”

But the mid-week speech by the president in Kansas City was just too hard to ignore. Somehow, this child commander-in-chief compares himself to Theodore Roosevelt, president from 1901-09. When this president compares himself to a president of a century ago, he is going down a very slippery slope. Obama tells the crowd of adoring adherents, the 26th president believed in an energetic government that curbs the excesses of a free market. T.R. enacted a progressive income tax, signed regulations to ban child labor, ensured safer workplaces, and instituted an eight hour workday. He broke apart monopolies, regulated railroad rates, and intervened to settle a major coal strike. Then Obama tips the gas can and really becomes grating. “Teddy Roosevelt believed what we know as true today, that the free market is the greatest force for economic progress in human history. Roosevelt knew that the free market has never been a free license to take what you can from whomever you can.” The president’s comments were followed by lots of applause by the barking seals of the Left. Obama continued to spew his nonsense about fair play and applying the rules evenly so that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. Would those rules of fair play also include a curbing of an oppressive, over-regulated Federal bureaucracy that is crippling American business and jobs as we speak?

Does anyone take seriously what this man says? Or, according to Krauthammer, “…just observe what he does.” Obama makes reference to Roosevelt’s Square Deal” but fails to tell you that ½ the American population pays no taxes, and the top 10% of American taxpayers pay about ¾ of all the revenues collected by the IRS. Shouldn’t everybody pay their fair share, Mr. President? I wonder why Barack Hussein Obama neglected to mention Theodore Roosevelt’s “Speak Softly, but Carry a Big Stick” policy when Roosevelt dispatched the United States Navy, then called the Great White Fleet, from 1907-09 on a circumnavigation global tour displaying American might and firepower. I am patiently waiting for our apologist-in-chief to refer to Roosevelt’s position on immigration. Quoting, Roosevelt,

“ In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith and becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of his creed, birthplace, or origin. But this in predicated on the person becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for only one flag, the American flag, we have room for but one language, and that is the English language, and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people. ”

Would someone please wake me up when Barack Hussein Obama utters the above Theodore Roosevelt philosophy? In the meantime, I will remind myself of Charles Krauthammer’s words.
