We didn't beat them, so lets join them - on tax increases and regulations

Proposed new republican strategy

I admit to just being frustrated with how last Tuesday turned out, and wanting to vent anywhere I might be heard. The enthusiasm of the conservative base was at an all time high, and not only did we lose, but it was quite decisive. The socialists have taken over, and it is not something you can easily defeat - who will vote to work harder for a lesser paycheck?

50+% of the US now believe they are a victim of some other entity - they will vote accordingly. I can only see an increase in the socialist base from where this country sits. I guess the average person isn't smart enough to look at their paycheck and realize the gov. takes out more than everything else combined. I wish people had to write a check out to the gov instead of it coming out of their wages automatically. Despite that fact, we still have a large base of people whom are economically well off. As long as they exist, the socialists have an enemy to base their fight on. It is really easy to dislike the guy who has the big house on the lake when you are stuck in the trailer park. Anyhow, the new strategy, it comes down to attrition...... Let's remove the enemy that supports their agenda, using their platform to do it. I wrote this to Rush earlier today..... We didn't beat them, so lets join them - on tax increases and regulations. The dems say we need to tax the rich, let's do it, let's say OK......., propose a 50 to 60% tax on all earnings over $500k. 70-80% on anything over $1m. WE need to beat them to the punch, our party needs to be the one who raises the taxes on "the rich". Instead of letting them get by with a little tax here or there that people will absorb and pass on, we need to slap the "greedy bastards" (I'm being sarcastic) with a tax that "makes a difference" - it won't, you and I know, but hey, it'll look good to the sheeple. Let's give em everything they want and throw a cherry on top! Let's be at the forefront of punishing the rich, we can use the excuse that the election sent us a mandate and we want to make everyone happy. Honestly, the uber-rich vote dem anyway, to make themselves feel good, so let their guys win. Nobody will be able to point the finger at us when things come crashing down, there will be enough R opposition to show it's not what we would do if we were in power. The economic damage will be sensational, it'll be better than a clash of arms. Unemployment needs to hit 30+%. The housing market still needs another 25% downward correction. It is still too easy to get credit in this country. The dollar, weak as it is, is still too prominent in the currency world. Steve Waulters
