Fair Pensions For All Responds to the Ontario Teachers Strike Threat

Really, Public School Teachers in Ontario want to strike. Why?

LONDON: Lets be honest for a moment. Most of us are getting sick and tired of self- absorbed teachers telling us that somehow they are hard done by. After all, Ontario teachers are the second highest paid in the world, have wonderful benefits and have an incredibly wealthy pension plan. The average teacher works for 27 years and is retired for 32 glorious years. All of this whilst having both of their hands firmly planted in the back pockets of those toiling in the private sector. So, the question that most people are asking is: Why, if teachers are so well compensated, are they threatening job action?
First of all, lets put aside some of the nonsense. The argument that this action is a result of them having a contract forced upon them faulty. There was a contract available to them and they chose to ignore it. The Catholic teachers signed it; so are we to believe that the same contract wasn’t available to the Public teachers? The union leaders are also arguing that Bill 115 takes away their right to collective bargaining. This too is nonsense. They were the ones that walked away from the table in February, and they refused to come back. They also don’t have a “collective bargaining” right in the Charter. And finally, what they do is not in fact collective bargaining at all. In fact, they bargain with a gun to the head of politicians threatening to destroy their political future by making our lives hell, if they don’t give in to every demand. And now we can start to understand why our teachers are about to go on strike. This impending strike has nothing to do with the classroom, the teachers, the students or the parents. Our teachers are being forced to go on strike by a bunch of narcissistic union men hell bent on taking control of the Ontario government once again.

Dalton McGuinty, worst Premier in the history of Ontario, puppet of the Public Sector unions

Dalton McGuinty, although being the worst Premier in the history of Ontario, was never his own man. He was a puppet of the Public Sector unions who put him there. And much like his preceding puppet brethren, Rae and Peterson, once he realized the cupboard was bare, he understood his impending fate. He realized that the unions were going to teach him a lesson. He in fact, was not a real boy. And now that he is on the scrap heap yearning for Geppetto, the unions are off to find a new, more appealing puppet. This time however, the puppet is a girl. The by-election in Kitchener-Waterloo was a very important time for the Public Sector unions. They needed to test their membership; they needed to know that they could be easily herded. After Bill 115 passed, the teachers unions worked diligently to make sure that their membership knew whom they needed to vote for. However the teachers vote itself is relatively small and meaningless and would not create much change. Thankfully for the teachers union, the collectivist, socialist, protect my entitlements culture, that is the Public Sector unions banded together to ensure electoral success for the Public Sector unions new puppet, Andrea Horwath. This victory was particularly important since the NDP leader had earlier in the year rejected the demand of Sid Ryan to bring down the government over the budget. They needed to show her who was boss, who was in control. And, in fact, whom she would have to answer to, if she wants to be Premier. And as much as we can hope that Ms. Horwath will reject the advances of these union thugs, the prospect of power will be too much to turn down. But Ms. Horwath needs to recognize that she, like the puppets before her, is never really in charge. And now you can understand why your children’s education is about to suffer. Now you can understand why your life will be turned upside down trying to find someone to look after your children while you go to work. And now you know why the teachers are powerless in this fight. They don’t want to stand out in the freezing cold holding embarrassing placards with a pile of union rhetoric on them, all the while collecting a pittance in strike pay. But they have to because a couple of power hungry, self involved union thugs need to get back to controlling Queens Park, and destroying this once proud province.
