MSNBC panel: We should add Obama and Clinton to Mt. Rushmore

The last time anyone gave any serious thought to carving a new presidential face into the mountains of South Dakota, the intended subject was Ronald Reagan. After all, if you're going to add someone to Mt. Rushmore, they'd better be pretty popular. Reagan, considering the overwhelming support and acclaim he received from the American people, seemed a natural choice.

However, he might not be the first name to roll off the lips of statist progressives like Al Sharpton. According to the MSNBC host (and at least part of his panel) Barack Obama should be added to the mountain post haste. If there's time, one of his guests would like to see Bill Clinton up there too. In particular, Sharpton doesn't think much of Roosevelt, referring to him as "a character" before adding; "If Teddy Roosevelt is the measure, I think it strengthens the case for Obama." This is not a new idea. The "Obama on Rushmore" movement has been gaining speed for some time and his reelection will only embolden it. Perhaps we could chisel him onto an opposing mountain, seeing as Barry stands in opposition to the comparatively pro-Constitution agendas of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln.
