The great Abe Lincoln and the not-so-great Barack Obama

Barack Obama: Modern-day Abraham Lincoln?

Is Barack Obama really a 21st Century manifestation of Abraham Lincoln? Some liberals, including Obama himself, are actively promoting that as a fundamental truth about The One, who has apparently evolved beyond simply being a Messiah.

And it is true, both men hail from Illinois! However, other than that, there is precious little about Barack Obama that would conjure up even a remote comparison to America’s 16th President! Consider, please, the most fundamental difference between Honest Abe and The One: Whereas, Abraham Lincoln authored and announced the Emancipation Proclamation and was instrumental in abolishing slavery, Barack Obama has sought, through ObamaCare and proliferation of existing Entitlement Programs, to create and expand a permanent “under class,” said class to be slavishly dependent on government for basic needs, and, thus, forever obligated to vesting unchecked power in the hands of tax and spend politicians who will deliver unearned goods, regardless of the impact on tax-paying, self-sufficient, and successful Americans. There are literally hundreds of areas in which Messieurs Lincoln and Obama differ. It would take volumes to examine those differences in detail. However, in the limited space available here, it is necessary to limit this rendering to specific words and phrases that apply to Abe Lincoln, but NOT to Barack Obama. A partial list of those words and phrases include:
  • Honest,
  • Humble,
  • Honorable,
  • Willing to take responsibility for his actions,
  • Compassionate,
  • Kind,
  • Merciful,
  • Encouraging,
  • Fair,
  • Unpretentious,
  • Wise, prudent,
  • Inquisitive,
  • Self-effacing,
  • Respectful,
  • Sincere,
  • Earnest,
  • Gentle,
  • Understanding,
  • Sympathetic,
  • Concerned for others,
  • Principled,
  • Generous,
  • Appreciative of others,
  • Patriotic,
  • Frugal, and
  • Courageous.
There are of course, hundreds, if not thousands, more words that accurately detail the differences between the great Abe Lincoln and the not-so-great Barack Obama. In sum, it can be said that Abraham Lincoln was a good and great American! Case closed! That says it all.
