TORONTO/EDMONTON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Candice Malcolm as the CTF’s new provincial communications director and spokesperson for the province of Ontario.
“With a provincial election as early as this spring, and a government that is adding almost $54 million a day the province’s quarter-trillion dollar debt, the timing of a fiscally-conservative voice in Ontario could not be more important,” said CTF Vice President, Communications Scott Hennig. Malcolm laid out what will be the CTF’s top priorities for Ontario: “First and foremost is a balanced budget through bringing public sector costs back in line with the private sector.” She added, “getting to the bottom of spending scandals such as the gas plant closures, advocating for more predictable and stable property tax rates, and restructuring the costly and ill-conceived Green Energy Act.”

“We are excited to have Candice on board. She has a deep resume of advocacy, policy research and writing,” continued Hennig. “We know she will serve as an assertive and hardworking advocate for CTF supporters in Ontario.” Originally from Vancouver, Candice has worked at the Fraser Institute, Atlas Economic Research Foundation, as a press secretary in Ottawa, and most recently as the research director at Sun News Network. She has a BA in political science and master’s degrees in International Relations and International Trade Law. Candice works out of Toronto, and is available for media interviews, speaking engagements, and will provide weekly commentary under the Let’s Talk Taxes banner. She is active on social media platforms such as twitter (@CandiceMalcolm), Facebook, and the CTF blog. Candice follows on the heels of former CTF Ontario directors: current federal director Gregory Thomas (Ontario - 2011-2013), Kevin Gaudet (2007-2011), Tasha Kheiriddin (2004-2006) and John Williamson (2002-2004). The CTF is Canada’s leading non-partisan citizens’ advocacy group fighting for lower taxes, less waste and accountable government. Founded in 1990, the CTF has over 80,000 supporters and eight offices across Canada. The CTF is funded by free-will, non tax-receiptable contributions.
