Muslims of the Americas, Sheikh Mubarak Gilani

Transcripts tell of smoking guns behind “Soldiers of Allah”

Sheikh Mubarak GilaniWe must understand what the Hindi speaking trainers were saying, now we do. You may be aware of Muslims of the Americas and their several dozen training compounds scattered across the U.S. and Canada. You may have also heard about myself or others referencing a terrorist training video produced by this Islamic organization, called "Soldiers of Allah." I know I have made copies available to law enforcement officials and a few others. Muslims of the Americas is headed by a Pakistani cleric named, Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. At one time his organization was noted on the U.S. State Department's terror watch list.

Copying the video is something that Sheikh Mubarak Gilani warned his fellow jihadist Muslims against, saying "you should not make copies of this film, so that it doesn't fall into the hands of the enemies of Islam." Well, it fell into my hands and I have the shared footage of the video with Atlanta's TV-2, which aired segments of the tape during a recent news broadcast. A project I worked on recently, that I now feel comfortable releasing, is a translation of the Hindi language portions contained in the video. We received assistance from a translator fluent in Hindi. Like most viewers of the video, I found the English portions of the video difficult enough to understand, given Sheikh Gilani's marble-mouthed English. The English part shows Gilani seated with comrades and greeting viewers on behalf of the Muslims of the Americas, "and in the West Indies, in the United States, Canada and in Pakistan." He said jihadist friends from all over the world can receive, "highly specialized training in guerilla warfare," in his words, at camps in the United Sates and Canada. "You can reach us, you know, at Quranic Open University offices in upstate New York, or in Canada, Michigan, South Carolina, or Pakistan...wherever we are--you can reach us," he said. Of special concern to me as a Virginian: the list of camps where he offers what he calls guerilla warfare training and contacts now includes Red House, Virginia. That's too close to home for me. The supervisors of Charlotte County were crass enough to ignore information available about Sheikh Gilani, and even named a street after him--Sheikh Gilani Lane. No wonder jihadists are emboldened to carry out paramilitary training right here in the United States and in Canada too--many of our elected officials still turn their backs to the threat. It causes me some pause, if you'll excuse the sidebar just a moment, to think how we are hearing and learning about this ourselves--it seems government sources should be more aware and forthcoming with this sort of information. Soon the Sheikh is heard saying on the video, "I leave you to see the film and to see how the struggle against oppression has to be carried on." "You" being, as he put it, "Muslims all over the world...it doesn't matter if you do not belong to, uh, Jamaat, or the group called the Muslims of the Americas." [a reference to his groups]. Note the "Jamaat" reference to Jamaat ul-Fuqra--an openly terrorist group that he denies involvement with. That is where the video fades to begin the training portion of what Gilani calls, "ordinary youth turned into, very like tigers, gone back to their people, training them in...guerilla warfare." [We are thankful to a tender Hindu woman who prefers to remain unnamed for helping us with the Hindi translations] Several segments show ambush tactics, camouflage, sneak-up garroting techniques--then a scene begins where an instructor is training these "ordinary youth" in firearms use. "Today I want to teach you how each team works against Jews and Israelis...what kind of work this is going to be," the trainer said in Hindi. "This is how to use weapons; high caliber and low caliber...you cannot use it however you want because it puts a lot of pressure on the mental mind. I will show you some of the big weapons..." This is what the trainer told them as a mission they, or some of them, were being prepared for: "We have to prepare you all, to send you to Germany--get you passports and other documents so you can go through customs...not only you, but even guns, ammo, everything has to go through customs. "When you go to Germany you have to be very careful--undercover--don't give them any reason to suspect you, be careful. Some people have to go over a fence at midnight, even if a guard sees you, they'll just think you're late. "Be smart, don't be foolish--do a lot of planning." He then unveils a grand strategy of these "guerilla" camps set up in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and elsewhere. "Act like you're a friend, then kill him just like from the book." Sheikh Gilani cuts in during a subsequent training session to encourage the troops, "like a mother comes to a sick child to give him medicine and make him well," he said. He added: "It takes about 15 or 20 days to be well-versed in training. Anyone who puts his hand to the plow doesn't turn back to look, especially when you desire to take up for Allah--doing Allah's work. You cannot leave or retreat. Is this clear? Do you understand? "You decided to work for Allah. You made promises to Allah. Now you must finish the job...work hard, then you will be able to go home, even if it is only to sight-see. You have to bear with us and learn everything. "We will be sending you to Germany to train others. We will make all these documents to make you officers." [granting a family death benefit if they die] "We will train you to be like tigers and lions. We will not leave you to fend for yourself. Now you don't know the plan; when the time comes, you go through the training and everything will be okay." The trainees end that scene by shouting, "long live Gilani!" The last training segments focus on how to work with fuses, explosives, field equipment and other incendiary attack methods--to run the remaining minutes before the scene returns to Gilani sitting with his comrades. "As you know, we have already established an organization under the auspices of Muslims of the Americas Incorporated. Our organization is called Soldiers of Allah," Gilani said. He added how he chose the name from the Koran. "Soldiers of Allah fight for the oppressed people. Soldiers of Allah fight for the sake of Allah...seeking his happiness, without expecting any reward at any time," Gilani said. How convenient, to call it self defense--on behalf of the "oppressed" so any political justification whatsoever can fill in for justification to carry out "guerilla warfare" against the "oppressor." I believe these camps offer Sheikh Gilani an opportunity to develop a "fifth battalion" against the United States and Canada--an army of seditionist Islamic jihadists within our borders. Remember, they consider any attack a strike of self defense against an "oppressor." "Our opportunity came [with] Soldiers of Allah," Gilani said. "You are most welcome to join one of the most advanced training courses in Islamic military warfare." He then asks interested jihadist Muslims to contact his experienced military commanders who can be reached through the Muslims of the Americas camps and university locations in the United States and Canada--presumably to include the Red House, Virginia, compound in my back yard. My warning to any who will listen is, how close to your backyard are these jihadist paramilitary camps that are training seditionist Muslims into guerilla warfare and who are calling themselves, "Soldiers of Allah"?
