"Unfortunately right now, the debate going on in Congress is not meeting the test of helping middle class families," Obama said. "They're not focused on you. They're focused on politics. They're focused on trying to mess with me. They're not focused on you."
Obama's rousing speech at a growing Ford manufacturing plant here on the outskirts of Kansas City amounted to an opening salvo against House Republicans heading into another intense skirmish over federal spending. Obama spoke a couple of hours after the House passed a short-term budget bill that would pay for government operations through mid-December but withhold funding for Obama's signature health-care law.If you really want to see it, here's the video: Now, this seems like a fair question: If opposing ObamaCare is really all about him, then what was passing it all about? Obama considers it his "signature legislative achievement." He embraces the name ObamaCare. Is that what it's really all about? Him? When people point out that its implementation is a fiasco, that insurance premiums are actually rising, that jobs are being lost . . . is that why he refuses to let go of it? Because it's ObamaCare, and the operative word here is Obama? Don't linger too much on that point, though, because if you do you will run the risk of letting Obama's narcissism overshadow his cluelessness. How, exactly, could he even consider making this public utterance?
Obama at times sought to belittle GOP lawmakers. "The most basic constitutional duty Congress has is to pass a budget," said the president, a former constitutional law lecturer. "That's Congress 101."Gosh. Does Harry Reid know about this? When was the last time he even allowed a budget resolution to come to the floor, let alone saw one passed in the Senate? The fact of the matter is that the GOP-controlled House has passed a continuing resolution (I would prefer a normal order budget but we've had that discussion before and we'll have it again) that funds the entire government except for ObamaCare. If Obama wants the government to keep operating, all he has to do is tell Harry Reid to pass it in the Senate, and then sign it. Unless, of course, he's willing to see the government shut down all for the sake of ObamaCare. And if that's the case, well, then, it really is about him, now isn't it?
