Earth Day 2014:

‘Save the Environment--from the EPA’

Earth Day 2014 arrives today with some environmentalists calling out the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its giant global footprint.
“The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility says the greenhouse gases generated by EPA administrator Gina McCarthy's week-long, five-city tour will "far exceed" any concrete action on climate change from her travels.” (Fox News, April 22, 2014) “Frenetically jetting around the country appears to undercut [the] EPA’s message to ordinary Americans that they should conserve, consume less and reduce transportation pollution,” national nonprofit environmental group PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch said in a statement. Sincere environmentalists could say the same, but never will about globe-trotting Al Gore, Prince Charles, Greenpeace, United Nations officials and the current crop of film stars including Leonardo DiCaprio who jet off to the latest “Save the Environment” cause for photo-ops. That’s partly because radical environmentalists are far too busy driving land owners, farmers and ranchers out of business to save the Spotted Owl, the Delta Smelt, the Prairie Grouse, the Polar Bear, the Desert Tortoise and others from the alleged ‘endangered species’ list to tell the truth on their know-it-all fellow travelers.

Saving the Environment has become all about making money with bogus claims that man-made global warming is well on its way to destroying Mother Earth. Saving the Environment long ago left rampant pollution behind for government-sponsored ‘scientists’ to chase down C02, a necessary component for healthy plant life. All scientists using science and truth to point out that man-made global warming is a hoax are labeled “deniers” and threatened with prison. Saving the Environment, with environmentalists seizing the moral ground to lecture the great unwashed, long ago became a lucrative cottage industry--perhaps the biggest of all time. Claiming to care about the environment will make you a multi-millionaire like an Al Gore or a UN poster boy Maurice Strong, but somehow never gets round to saving the environment. “The EPA announced last week that McCarthy would visit New York, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta and Memphis to "participate in various events to...focus on responsible steps to cut carbon pollution to slow the effects of climate change." (Fox News) “Ruch noted that some events on McCarthy’s itinerary have questionable ties to promoting climate action, such as joining Energy Secretary Moniz to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday's Red Sox vs. Yankees baseball game at Boston's Fenway Park. EPA would argue that tossing out the first pitch at a baseball game does wonders for saving the environment. “The tour kicked off on Monday with a visit to Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show," where McCarthy touted President Obama's climate action plan. The tour will end on Friday with a tour of sustainable energy projects in Tennessee, the EPA said.  “Ruch said McCarthy is a frequent air traveler and has been criticized for commuting frequently back to her home in Boston. An agency official told The Daily Caller earlier this month that McCarthy sometimes drives home to Boston on the weekends, but the official did not specify how many times or the vehicle she uses. "Hasn’t EPA heard of Skype?" Ruch said. No, but not to worry, Mr. Ruch as the National Security Agency (NSA) already has the public’s back covered on all forms of modern day communication, and one government agency is as dangerous as any other. “According to PEER, air travel emissions account for only about 5 percent of total carbon pollution, but the percentage is expected to rise sharply since air traffic is growing much faster than technological advances in air-fleet fuel efficiency. “McCarthy has pushed the agency's contentious proposal to set emissions caps for new coal-fired power plants that would likely require the industry to use carbon-capture technology, a process that involves burying carbon underground.  “Critics argue the rules aimed at cutting emissions from coal plants are based on technology that is not commercially feasible. Coal-state lawmakers and industry officials have warned the regulations will cost much-needed jobs.”  It is for reasons such as these and the land grabs going down in the west in the name of the environment that Earth Day 2014 should be remembered. Mind you, seeing the EPA attacked by environmentalists is a sign of Hope & Change. Earth Day’s new motto should be: ‘Save the Environment--from the EPA’.
