CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. - Tucked in the lush mountain valley between the Monterey peninsula and the Big Sur coast, the exclusive Bernardus Lodge & Spa today announced plans for a three-month, all-encompassing property restoration to the iconic resort destination. Project plans include upgrading luxury accommodations, creating a stunning new lobby space, reinventing the pool experience and refreshing the dining destinations.

"We've made a major commitment to perfect every aspect of the guest experience for today's discerning, global travelers, while capturing the historic Carmel Valley charm," said Sue Dreyer, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bernardus Lodge & Spa. “We constantly strive to exceed the expectations of our sophisticated guests and these renovations will certainly achieve that goal. Additionally, it is our intent that all of our resort management and staff will be retained, so that when the lodge is reopened guests will return to the same superior level of service we’re known for.” The new décor will offer contemporary design elements, state of the art technology and spectacular new creative accents that match the beauty and charm of Carmel Valley. The renovation will begin December 1, 2014, with a projected re-opening date of February 15, 2015. Set on 26 pristine Carmel Valley acres awash with vineyards and lavender, Bernardus Lodge & Spa boasts 57 luxurious guestrooms, award-winning dining, a signature spa, two swimming pools and an alfresco bocce court. Minutes from its namesake Bernardus Winery and Vineyard, the Lodge offers a tailored escape steeped in European graciousness. A perennial recipient of prestigious accolades and a member of The Leading Hotels of The World, Bernardus is frequently lauded by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure as among the best resorts in the world in addition to boasting a coveted Forbes Travel Guide Four Star rating. OpenTable Diners’ Choice Awards recently named Marinus Restaurant one of the ‘Top 100 Best Restaurants in America’ and Bernardus Lodge also has the distinction of ranking No. 1 in Andrew Harper’s Reader Survey of “Top Food & Wine Resorts” worldwide.
