Zimbabwe Prime Minister’s grandson, Shawn (2), drowned in a family pool at the premier's Strathaven home in the capital Harare on Saturday.

The tragedy comes barely a month after Tsvangirai lost his wife, Susan in a road accident along the Harare-Masvingo highway. According to the official website of the PM, Shawn, son to Tsvangirai’s second born son Garikai drowned on Saturday at around 1530 hrs. Garikai is based in Canada but has been in Harare with wife Lilian after the loss of his mother. “Shawn Tsvangirai, 30-month old grandson of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, drowned Saturday in a swimming pool at the Prime Minister's residence in Strathaven, Harare. The incident happened at about 1530 hrs,” reads part of the statement. Tsvangirai had to leave the World Bank sponsored Ministerial Retreat in the resort town of Victoria Falls on Saturday to be with his family in Harare. Shawn will be buried Monday 6 April at the family rural home in Buhera next to his grandmother. Coincidentally Susan died on 6 March. The tragedy to hit the PM’s family comes just about two weeks after the family returned from neighbouring South Africa where they were recovering from the loss of Susan.
