Barry Shaw

My opinion was formed from living in Israel, witnessing the horror of terror, reading the misinformation and downright lies perpetrated by the Western media, seen the incompetence of Israeli leaders to project the facts. My website comes from a particularly personal perspective. The articles may be controversial and provocative. For whatever strikes Israel today will surely visit you tomorrow.

Barry Shaw is the author of Fighting Hamas, BDS and Anti-Semitism.’

Correcting the Rise of Political Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism is politically motivated. In Germany, the Nazis targeted the Jews in part because they represented liberal democracy and emancipation, the antithesis of everything that an authoritative Nazi Germany stood for.

George Lansbury – a European politician in today’s mold

In 1929, George Lansbury became a member of the second Labour government in Great Britain. As the most senior surviving minister after the electoral defeat of 1931 he became Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition. George Lansbury served as Chairman of the No More War Movement. Dick Sheppard, founder of the Peace Pledge Union, of which Lansbury was President at the time of his death, called him 'Public Pacifist Number One'.

Voting for a symbolic state

I recently spoke to a British lawmaker about the recent vote in the British parliament in favor of a non-existent Palestinian state. I admit that I ranted about the not so hidden dangers to Israel in the significance of this vote.

Pig-headed BDS Movement

Pig-headed BDS Movement, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement backfires in South Africa
The incident that got BDS banned from demonstrating at Woolworths stores in South Africa was when members of a political party in support of BDS trespassed into one of the stores and placed pigs heads in what they thought was the kosher foods section.

Media in the service of Israel’s enemies

Gross distortions in media coverage of the recent Jerusalem synagogue massacre, coming so soon after the gross media distortions in the Gaza conflict, in both cases leaves a feeling of a media that hits on Israel while giving Palestinian terror a free pass. It leads us to ask why?

The Apartheid of Poverty, and Anti-Israel Hypocrisy, in South Africa

My book highlights the lies and hypocrisy of the Arab narrative which positions Palestinians as the innocent victims of oppression. The truth is that they have a long history of violence and terror and have rejected every pragmatic peace deal offered to them. Whenever any group of organization pose as “pro-Palestinian” you can bet they are, at the same time, virulently anti-Israel. Scratch them and you will find, more often than not, this extends to them being anti-Semitic.

Is there a personal animus against Israel from President Obama?

Is there a personal animus against Israel from President Obama?
Since when does the US Administration send condolences to a criminal's family? I know it happened in the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, Missouri. Now it is happening in Israel after an Arab youth who hurled firebombs at passing Israeli cars in Judea & Samaria, was killed by security forces. The Obama Administration sent official condolences to the family of this young terrorist when, as part of a violent mob, he endangering the lives of Israelis.

The danger of Obama's strategy of linking Iran and ISIS for Israel

The danger of Obama's strategy of linking Iran and ISIS for Israel
In fifty days of Gaza conflict, Israel launched 5500 precision air strikes against terror targets. In 70+ days the US launched less than 400 strikes in Iraq and Syria against ISIS. Why? It's not lack of planes and fire power. It's a lack of political will, despite all the rhetoric of having to degrade and defeat the Islamic State rampage and mayhem.

Bibi. What he said - and what he didn’t.

Following Benjamin Netanyahu’s bold but dark speech at the podium of the United Nations, he was more conciliatory with his remarks at the White House before he sat in a closed session with President Obama.

British Labour Party Bias is Appalling

Statements made by Ed Miliband and his Shadow Foreign Minister, Douglas Alexander at the Labour Party Conference on Monday, September 22, were appalling for their one-sided bias against Israel. Although they paid lip service to a condemnation of "Hamas rockets and the terrorization of civilian populations" the only use of the word "illegal" was in reference to Israeli building, and the only use of the word "immoral" was for settlements, which they described as being done "on other peoples land."

The Dithering Commander in Chief

Barrack Hussein Obama is the example of what happens when the mightiest nation on earth elects a politician whose worldview is to naively make the world a level playing field.

An eye for an eye leads to blindness.

Even as Israel sent its forces in a house-to-house search for the three missing teenagers, critical voices were heard condemning Israel for imposing “collective punishment” on Palestinian society. Was this criticism justified? Or was it part of a Palestinian narrative that picks on Israel, and attempts to gain global sympathy, even as they commit horrendous crimes on innocent Israelis, including youngsters and babies?

Nations with religion-based characteristics, and Israel

There is wide support, and some passionate objections, to Israel identifying itself as the Jewish state. Some, in the Arab world, call this racist. States created on a religious basis are not necessarily racist.

When Israel supporters use the language of delegitimization

When US Secretary of State, John Kerry, said it was a “mistake” for Israel to demand recognition as the Jewish State it shows how deeply the language of delegitimization has been adopted by even the most ardent of Israel supporters.

Original Thinking: No going back

You know what the one major problem would be should Israel foolishly agree to surrender territory to an aggressive new Palestinian state? There is no going back. The world will never allow Israel to reconquer any territory.
