Obama lets himself get rolled by China so he can get 'climate change' deal

Welcome to the world of make-believe. Let me explain how it works. First, you pretend there is this massive problem that is threatening the existence of live on Earth. As I look out the window right this moment at four or five inches of snow falling on November 13, I would like to remind you that this purported massive problem is global warming, which has been renamed "climate change" because there have been too many four-or-five-inches-of-snow-on-November-13 type incidents, and politicians needed a new name for it that wasn't so obviously ridiculous.

In Arkansas, outgoing Democrat governor pardons son's drug conviction

I realize some of you think there should be no drug convictions, ever, of anyone, for anything . . . and you always make your feelings known. I don't care about them any more today than I ever do, but it's not really the point anyway. A governor pardoning his own son?

OK, time for Senate to push through Keystone XL approval, says . . . Mary Landrieu?

Democrat Mary Landrieu is in huge trouble coming up on her December 6 Senate runoff against Republican Bill Cassidy in Louisiana. Although she won a plurality in the November "jungle primary" by a single percentage point over Cassidy, the total number of Republican votes far outpaced Landrieu's total and she's trailing Cassidy in the polls by 5 points.

ObamaCare 2015 will be an unmitigated river of crap, says . . . CBS News?

You know, it's funny. The information showing what a train wreck ObamaCare already is - and will be to an even greater degree in 2015 - has been available for some time. CBS News could have written a story about it any time they wanted, like, say, before last week's election. Yet for some reason, surely a mystery to all, they waited until all hope was lost for the Democrats to tell us that everyone's favorite law is going to get even worse next year:

Holman Jenkins's blistering takedown of 'net neutrality'

Enjoying the work of Wall Street Journal writer Holman W. Jenkins Jr. can make you feel cynical. But when you apply it to the hyper-regulatory instincts of the political class, you can rarely go wrong in embracing that mindset. So Jenkins is really in his element writing about the latest Obama brainstorm, which is to use the FCC to impose "net neutrality" rules on an Internet that's doing quite well without any political interference.

New ObamaCare enrollment projections way below solvency requirement

If it seems like we've been here before, well, we have. With the initial launch of ObamaCare, the administration indicated that they needed a minimum of 7 million signups to keep the program solvent. But that was just for the first year. In order to keep it solvent going forward, those numbers need to steadily increase. With the new enrollment period about to begin, the projection is that ObamaCare needs 13 million to remain fiscally viable.

Here's a thought: Nominate Scott Walker for president

I hate talking about presidential politics, especially days after a mid-term election, but you obviously can't ignore it entirely on a site like this - particularly now when potential candidates are starting to get asked about it. And especially when an ideal candidate is letting it be known that he just make give it a shot.

Boehner and McConnell vs. the guy who doesn't care about governing

When we consider the question of whether Republicans can govern from Capitol Hill, the obvious first thought is that everything they want to do will ultimately come up against Barack Obama's veto pen. That's true, but so is this: The Congress is a co-equal branch of government with the Executive. Neither can really govern without the other. Obama can veto legislation but he can't pass it. Obama can make executive decisions (and clearly loves to do so), but he can't appropriate funds to pay for executive actions.

Alaska looks like another GOP pickup

We ended last night looking at a net Republican pickup of seven Senate seats, meaning the fewest possible Republicans in the new majority would be 52. Alaska returns come in late, of course, and it often takes time to finalize them because it's not easy collecting all the results from remote areas of the Last Frontier.

America to Obama: Step aside, bro

The American public realized not long after the 2012 election that they had blown it. Given the opportunity to fire Barack Obama and turn the federal government back in a wise direction, they should have seized the moment and done just that. Instead, they got caught up nonsense like Big Bird and "binders full of women", and in not liking rich, CEO-ish Republicans, and as a result they dropped the ball and stuck the nation with four more years of an unserious, unqualified, inept president.

GOP takes Senate!

Harry Reid may not be going to the trash dumpster where he belongs, but he'll be relegated to the role of Senate Minority Leader come January. With pickups tonight in Iowa, Montana, Arkansas, West Virginia, Colorado, North Carolina and South Dakota - as well as holding their own seats - the Republican Party has taken control of the U.S. Senate Majority.
