I suppose there could be other classmates who did see Kavanaugh act in the manner described by his accusers. If so, where are they?
None of the supposed witnesses cited by Christine Blasey Ford have panned out. The Georgetown Prep alumni don’t even remember meeting anyone named Julie Swetnick. Everyone in a position to know who has spoken on the record has said Brett Kavanaugh simply did not act in the manner portrayed by his accusers.

Submitted without much comment, but I do want to say a few things about this.
What we’re presented with here is two totally different notions of the kind of man this is. There is no in-between. There is no splitting the difference.
So they’re buds again?
Maybe the best way to keep your job in the Trump Administration is to have someone leak to the failing New York Times that you were going around trying to undermine the president. A story based on anonymous sources? Obviously false. You’ll have a job forever.
This is either an absolute bombshell or the dirtiest of dirty pool – sprung at the last possible minute to make it appear any scheduled vote on Kavanaugh without a thorough investigation would be beyond irresponsible.
It comes from a noted lawyer of porn stars, and the allegation itself doesn’t get any more explosive. Yet that’s the very reason it’s hard to believe it happened the way she claims.
I hasten to clarify: Rachel Mitchell is not the elected Maricopa County Prosecutor, as that’s an elected position held by one specific person. That’s Bill Montgomery. But Mitchell works in the prosecutor’s office and has a long history prosecuting sex crimes.
I’m always circumspect when dealing with anything that comes from anonymous sources, so I’ll note that here.
But I do know that Donald Trump is in a bit of a pickle where this whole thing is concerned for one simple reason: It’s much more difficult to deal with a Rod Rosenstein departure if it comes about via firing instead of a resignation.
This could just be a pep talk for the team, but McConnell is exceedingly good at getting votes to go the way he wants them to – when it’s a vote McConnell actually cares about.
Maybe she will, but apparently there’s no such thing as a done deal with this woman or her attorneys. Now they’re unhappy about who’s going to be doing the questioning.
They don’t say it this way, of course. The voters of Great Britain rendered their verdict back in 2016, much to the dismay of the political class in the UK and throughout Europe, and British politicians still feel the need to give lip service to “respecting the will of the people.”
Who is the most effective political leader in America right now? You’d have to make a case for Maxine Waters if this video is any indication. What she tells her followers to do – harass Republicans everywhere you see them, everywhere they go – her followers do. With relish.
Nor should he, obviously, but nominees for federal offices have withdrawn over less than what Kavanaugh’s facing right now.
The last-minute second accuser was as predictable as the day is long because this is how these smear campaigns always work. Don’t be surprised if there’s a third accuser by Thursday – also with a vague, impossible-to-pin-down story that comes without evidence or corroboration but is solemnly believed by all Democrats because hey, women don’t ever lie.
There was some doubt – and I harbored some myself – that the U.S. pulling out unilaterally from the Iran nuclear deal would really put any meaningful pressure on Iran.
The deal was between six countries, and even if U.S. companies were not able to do business with Iran, those in the others still seemed eager to do so. Even if the U.S. could freeze Iran’s remaining assets, they could probably find a way to get at them by laundering them through other countries.
You’re right. This doesn’t prove he’s innocent. Twenty-five women saying “he didn’t sexually assault me” doesn’t prove it didn’t happen to the 26th.
But here’s why this matters:
Google is absolutely, positively, without question, beyond a shadow of a doubt, not biased.
But just in case, its CEO Sundar Pichai figured he had better make sure Google’s employees know that. I mean, when you watch videos of Google executives indulging in a cry-fest following the election of Donald Trump, you might get the impression that Google leans a tad to the left.
Yeah . . . it doesn’t work that way in America. I don’t even think it works that way in Russia.
But apparently in American politics, to the extent Democrats are allowed to make the rules, it’s now perfectly fine for those accused of something to be forced to rebut the charges before the charges are even made.
There are breaches of trust and ethics so serious that they warrant the highest and most severe possible penalty.
We rarely see such penalties applied, not necessarily because they are not justified but more likely because humans have a natural inclination to avoid being harsh if there is any reasonable alternative.
The Miracle New York Mets were on their way to the World Series. Led Zeppelin released its first album. My baby sister was born. (Next year she turns . . . ah, you can work that out and I won’t get in trouble.)
I don’t like to play Switch The Parties too often, but try to imagine this:
A Republican has gone public with a letter that contains a very serious allegation against a Democrat nominee. The Democrats ask for a copy of the letter . . . and the Republican refuses to produce it.
Since this has never been anything but a delay tactic, there’s no sense accommodating it when the demands of the delayers are becoming increasingly nonsensical.
If there’s one thing every liberal will do when talking about tax policy (and most “moderates” and a fair number of “fiscal conservatives” as well), it’s to scoff at the notion that tax cuts can pay for themselves.
