Let’s Be Honest: Trump’s U.N. Speech Was a Disaster

Sep 20, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

President Trump in his U.N. speech failed to mention that Russia and China are responsible for North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. What’s worse, Trump actually thanked Russia and China for helping to somehow restrain North Korea through the ineffective United Nations.

The “America First” president said, “The United Nations Security Council recently held two unanimous 15-0 votes adopting hard-hitting resolutions against North Korea, and I want to thank China and Russia for joining the vote to impose sanctions, along with all of the other members of the Security Council.  Thank you to all involved.”

Democracy dies in darkness and hangs in the balance

Sep 19, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

The comical publication the Onion ran a special volume, Homeland Insecurity, with the headline, “Run for Your Lives.” I thought of that in the wake of the decision by hard-liners Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka to voluntarily leave the White House rather than continue to fight for rational pro-American policies in the Trump Administration against what has been called the Deep State.

In their cases, Trump didn’t have to say “you’re fired.” They quit.

Sadly, Trump, the elected president, may be the next to go.

Obama is Back and He’s Not Leaving

Sep 11, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

President Trump has made a deal with Democrats over the debt ceiling and disaster aid. And he’s apparently promised to make a deal to legalize the illegal aliens covered by DACA. On global policy, he has kept Obama’s Iran nuclear deal while depending on the communist-front United Nations to do something about the Communist North Korean nuclear weapons program. Trump is now reportedly asking the U.N. for permission to inspect ships going to North Korea.

The Communist Party spin-off known as the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism is claiming that Trump is “triangulating” and isolating the “hard right” of the Republican Party by forging an alliance with Congressional Democrats.

Roku is the Answer to Media Bias

Jun 30, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

Since AIM founder Reed Irvine hired me out of college in 1978, amazing changes have taken place in the media landscape. Reed’s penetrating analysis of liberal media bias encouraged the search for alternatives. People became skeptical of what was piped into their homes. The days when world government advocate and anti-defense liberal Walter Cronkite was the most trusted man in America faded fast.

Still, the bias persists. One can understand President Donald Trump’s disgust with such Comcast properties as MSNBC, while hoping that the President would take some time proposing alternatives. The good news he should proclaim is that conservative alternative networks are becoming more widely available through the emergence of Internet streaming devices such as Roku and a phenomenon called cord-cutting.

National Cut the Cord Day on July 7 is an example of what’s happening to the media landscape.

Shocking Media Lies

Jun 27, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

In a story about the Women’s March on Washington, Time magazine published various “Portraits of Dissent” that included the views of a 17-year-old Calvert County, Maryland, high school senior with the words “Nasty, Queer, #,” marked on her cheeks and forehead. She was quoted as saying rights were in danger because of the Trump presidency and that Vice President Mike Pence “is someone that supports electroshocking people like me to turn us into people we aren’t.”

Pence never said any such thing. But where did this fictional and irrational claim come from? And why did Time publish this lie?

A new report from the National Task Force for Therapy Equality to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) identifies precisely where many of the false claims are originating. The report, entitled, “Lies, Deception, and Fraud,” accuses the Southern Poverty Law Center, Human Rights Campaign, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights of a hate campaign designed to ban psychotherapy for individuals with sexual and gender identity conflicts.

The “Crime of the Century” is Bad Journalism

Jun 26, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

The latest propaganda piece from The Washington Post, “Obama’s secret struggle to punish Russia for Putin’s election assault,” is based, as usual, mostly on anonymous sources determined to make former President Barack Obama look good. The gist is that Obama tried his best to punish Russia for alleged interference in the 2016 election, but he fell short and left the matter in the hands of President Donald Trump, who has done nothing.

So Trump is blamed for Obama’s failure. How convenient.

The essence of the piece is that “intelligence” was “captured” that somehow proved that Russian President Vladimir Putin gave “specific instructions” that he wanted to “defeat or at least damage the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and help elect her opponent, Donald Trump.”

McCabe’s FBI Hosts Gay Pride Summit

Jun 22, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

The FBI may not be able to detect and prevent left-wing violence directed at Republicans playing baseball. But it sure knows how to pander to and entertain the LGBTQ community with a full-blown conference featuring discussions about the oppressive “identity hierarchy.”

In an amazing development, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, whose wife ran with Hillary’s support for the state senate in Virginia, has now put the entire FBI apparatus at the disposal of a key Democratic Party constituency group, the LGBTQ lobby, with “Q” meaning queer.

It is a direct affront to the conservative Christians who voted for President Donald Trump.

Why the Russians Conceived the Global Warming Scam

Jun 20, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

One of my duties at Accuracy in Media (AIM) has been to expose left-wingers in the media and Congress who were soft on the old Soviet Union and are now acting like hard-liners on Vladimir Putin’s Russia. It is a fascinating topic which exposes the duplicity of the left-wing obsession with Russia.

These people, who were soft on the Soviet Union and now hard on Russia, are the worst kind of hypocrites. Their hypocrisy is further demonstrated by the abundant evidence that the global warming or climate change theory, which they now embrace, was conceived by Soviet communists as a means by which to destroy the industrial base in the United States. This disinformation theme has been embraced by the liberals now claiming to be tough on Russia.

Don’t take my word for it. When Natalie Grant Wraga died in 2002 at the age of 101, The Washington Post recognized her expertise as a Soviet expert, noting that she was “born in czarist Russia, saw great upheaval in her native land and became an expert in unmasking Soviet deception methods for the State Department…”

Conspiracy of Silence about Mueller

Jun 19, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

I am amazed by the conspiracy of silence, on the right and the left, about former FBI Director Robert Mueller’s bungling of the anthrax case. “In his years as FBI director and as a Justice Department official, Mueller gained a reputation for honesty, integrity, and being a ‘straight-shooter,’” writes Fred Barnes at The Weekly Standard.

This is pure hogwash, to use a family-friendly term.

Barnes, a veteran journalist, is not alone in offering such undeserved praise of Mueller. Commentators on the right and left have been repeating this garbage ever since Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller as special counsel. Interestingly, Rosenstein also received high praise from various commentators. He, too, was seen as a straight shooter. With former FBI Director James Comey, they constitute an unholy alliance that is determined to take down President Donald Trump. With good reason, Trump calls it a witch hunt.

MSNBC’s Ratings Lead to Blood

Jun 16, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

This is a time in the history of our nation when an honest group or congressional panel with integrity could name and ostracize extremists on both the right and left. Unfortunately, the media have crowned the misnamed Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as the arbiter of what’s good and right in America today. Ironically, it was the SPLC that inspired an act of terrorism on American soil, when a gay militant opened fire on the Washington office of the Family Research Council. He saw the group listed on an SPLC “hate map.”

Now we learn that James Hodgkinson, the gunman who shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and three other people on Wednesday, had “liked” the Southern Poverty Law Center on Facebook.

Isn’t it fascinating how a group that is regularly portrayed by the media as an expert on “extremists” is at the center of two terrorist incidents in the Washington, D.C. area?

The FBI’s Pathetic Track Record on Terrorism

Jun 12, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

Former FBI Director James Comey has finally admitted publicly that President Donald Trump has not been under investigation, after months of deliberately leaving the impression that he was. Now the issue becomes whether Trump somehow obstructed justice in trying to save one of his subordinates, a decorated military veteran who ran the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), from a frivolous prosecution.

Trump had fired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn (Ret.), who supported him during the campaign, but couldn’t stand to see this patriot raked over the coals by the press and the Democrats for some confusing statements he made about his own Russian contacts during the period when he was preparing the new Trump administration’s foreign policy. Trump was loyal to a friend and supporter. For that, according to Comey, Trump is now in the crosshairs of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Persecuting Trump While Inviting Terrorism

Jun 12, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

The Russia-gate scandal means big ratings for the media. For the American people, it means the likelihood of more terrorist attacks. It stands to reason that all of the money, resources and personnel that are being used to investigate President Donald Trump could be used elsewhere, such as rooting out the corruption in the intelligence community that has prevented the United States from identifying and defeating the Islamic terrorist threat.

We are currently being treated to the spectacle of two former FBI directors, one of them a special counsel, seemingly determined to take down the President of the United States because he wanted to apply the brakes to a useless probe into a phony scandal.

President Trump, trying to do the job he was elected to do, is now saying publicly what was known for years under President Obama—that the Middle East nation of Qatar is a funder and sponsor of terrorism. In what can accurately be called a real scandal, the Obama administration made Qatar into a phony friend of the United States and supposedly a base of expanded U.S. military operations against terrorism.

Trump Should Say “You’re Fired” to Special Counsel

Jun 9, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

The incoherent questioning of James Comey by Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is symptomatic of why President Donald Trump is at a severe disadvantage as the special counsel’s investigation of Russia-gate goes forward. The Republicans have walked into a trap and don’t know how to dig themselves out. They are playing ball with the Democrats, whose goal is impeachment.

McCain blamed staying up late to watch a baseball game. What’s the White House’s excuse?

The liberal media, the Democrats, and Comey’s best buddy, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, are in Comey’s corner. Mueller approved Comey’s decision to testify to the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Comey testified that “Bob” would handle the obstruction of justice investigation against Trump.  It can’t get any clearer than this. Trump is a marked man. We know what they’re doing.

Prepare the White House for President Pence

Jun 8, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

Those who think that Russia-gate is a witch-hunt or a hoax that will run out of gas need to think again. As we are about to see with the live coverage of former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony, this is an opportunity for the media to have enormous fun, generate ratings, and make money bashing another Republican president.

I went back in time for a juicy quote from The Washington Post’s Ben Bradlee, a Democratic Party insider who commented during his paper’s coverage of the Reagan administration’s Iran-Contra affair that “This is the most fun we’ve had since Watergate.” Bradlee saw the controversy as a way to bring down another Republican president. It worked with Watergate, which brought down Richard Nixon. It didn’t work in Reagan’s case.

But can they bring down Trump? The odds look good.

Communists Make Conservative Friends

Jun 1, 2017 — Cliff Kincaid

A top official of the Communist Vietnamese dictatorship spoke on Wednesday at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. The speech was entitled “Opportunities and Challenges to Peace, Security, Cooperation and Development in the Asia-Pacific and the Growth of Vietnam—U.S. Comprehensive Partnership.” It was advertised on the Heritage website with a beautiful scenic photo, apparently of Vietnam, carrying the caption, “In the midst of complex issues, Vietnam is working to find the best path forward to guarantee the prosperity and security of its people.” It sounds like heaven on earth.

But Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) says, “Vietnam has one of the world’s worst human rights records with severe censorship of the Internet and press, harsh restrictions on religious and ethnic communities, and active suppression of political participation and environmental demonstrations.” Yet, he says, “…Vietnam often gets a free pass on human rights. There is little media coverage of human rights abuses and diplomats are so focused on the fact that Vietnam is ‘not China’ that this oppressive police state is granted trade and security benefits without conditions.”
