Democrats don’t care about the people

Harry Reid and the democrats don't care about the people, they don't want to negotiate, and they don't care about the unintended consequences of this shutdown. Watch:

Restaurant owner ordered to close because of shutdown: I do not think so

Glenn Helseth operates the Carrot Tree Kitchen in Yorktown, Virginia. Because the restaurant is located on federal land - and operates out of a building leased from the federal government - those running the Obama Shutdown Show have told Helseth he needs to close his restaurant for the duration of the people. That would throw him and his 20 employees into unemployment and threaten the viability of the restaurant.

5 presidents, 17 shutdowns; all negotiated . . . except you-know-who

To listen to the White House and the media, you would get the impression that a government shutdown, brought on by the inability of Congress to agree on a spending measure, is unprecedented! And to listen to Obama, you’d think that for Congress to actually demand conditions for passing such a measure is akin to taking hostages and holding them at gunpoint.

3 reasons the shutdown (which is really just a slowdown) will be an ugly smackdown

In practical terms, the government "shutdown" isn't having much effect on most people's lives. Only 28 percent of the federal workforce is even off the job, and for all the media's hysterics, people are realizing they are quite capable of living their lives on a daily basis with relying on any "essential services" from Washington D.C. It's more a slowdown than a shutdown, and not that consequential a slowdown either.

ObamaCare do-gooders don’t care

I have often described the liberals' tactics as S.I.N. When they can't justify what they want to do with logic or facts, which is basically always, they shift the subject, ignore the facts, and name call.

ObamaCare overview: Explaining the basics

Do you actually understand the basic facts of ObamaCare? I ask that question not to insult your intelligence, but simply in recognition of the fact that the news media tends to cover the politics of the issue, but doesn't give much attention to the substance. That's a problem because it's one thing to be against government-run health care in the abstract, but when you really know how ObamaCare works, you'll understand why this particular approach is so flawed - and why it has already failed so abysmally.

HR 2300: Yes, there is a Republican plan to replace ObamaCare

(Editor's note: This is not the first time we've run this piece, but since ObamaCare water carriers keep repeating the nonsense that Republicans have no alternative, we think it bears running again.) ObamaCare continues to come apart at the seams, as the administration announced last week that it is delaying implementation of the odious employer mandate – although not the individual mandate – by one year. The employer mandate is now set to go into effect in 2015, while the individual mandate will still go into effect in 2014 as originally scheduled.

ObamaCare’s redistribution of health and death

Most people and businesses clearly understand, now, how ObamaCare redistributes the cost of health insurance and the cost of health care. It does it with a plethora of rules, taxes and penalties.

USA Today: The IRS is scared of little old . . . Herman Cain?

I don't mean to minimize the threat the IRS poses to liberty. It's huge. They have virtually unchecked power to harass Americans, and that's the direct result of a tax code that seeks to manipulate Americans behavior, thus empowering the IRS to snoop on us and see if we're complying with the manipulation as politicians intend.

Rep. Frank Wolf: CIA suspends employee who refuses to be muzzled about Benghazi

The media and the State Department desperately want us to forget what happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, which is why the White House is trying its best to pretend that a State Department "investigation" that merely whitewashed the role of senior officials is the final word on the matter.

Terrific: Putin off to Iran to help get the West off their backs, too

How thoroughly did Vladimir Putin clean Barack Obama's clock on this whole Syria thing? You know it's bad when he starts hearing from other bad actors wanting him to come and and do the same thing for them. And as you might imagine, it didn't take long for the Iranians to come calling.
