Tucker Carlson’s Misguided Attack on Republicans

For the record, I believe Fox News host Tucker Carlson is by far the best high-profile TV commentator of our time. I frequently cite him in my news-oriented articles, and his monologues are tours de force. Thus is it notable that I’ve never seen him stumble so badly as on his last Wednesday evening show. Aside from taking at face value a rather portly Google engineer’s claim that a computer he’d been working with, which he calls a “person,” has become sentient (highly improbable at this time), Carlson launched an attack on the Republican Party that, while containing some truth, failed to see the forest for the trees.

A common way to put Made-up Sexual Status (MUSS, aka "transgender") activists on the spot is to ask them "What is a woman?" They'll hem and haw because their current emotion-based creed dictates that the only possible definition is "anyone who identifies as a woman." Some sexual devolutionaries, however, may come back with what a YouTube commenter under a very clever, topic-related Babylon Bee video claimed. "Let's be real, conservatives do not have a tenable definition of woman," he stated. "[C]onservatives don't talk about their definition of woman — they know it's not good enough." Okay, then, challenge accepted. I'll talk about it:

Comedian-cum-commentator Bill Maher has of late been making some new friends and enemies and raising many an eyebrow. At issue are his Real Time monologues in which he has taken his “side,” the Left, to task for “woke” insanity ranging from canceling people over innocent quips to convincing children they can be the opposite sex to whiny “millennial” entitlement. It reminds many of the #WalkAway movement and of billionaire industrialist Elon Musk’s recent resolution to vote Republican. Nonetheless, Maher never actually becomes “red pilled”; one way or another, he makes clear he’s firmly on the Democrat plantation. There’s a good reason for this, too — a psychological reason.

Word is that the Senate has the necessary votes for federal gun control legislation designed to, among other things, pressure states into instituting "red flag" laws. These measures are controversial because they involve suspending a person's rights (i.e., seizing his weapons) without due process. Wherever you stand on them and federal firearms laws in principle, however, a simple fact is under-emphasized in this debate: Laws mean little if not enforced.

It has been odd and alarming watching the powers-that-be relentlessly escalate the proxy war our government is waging against Russia. It's not just that we're sending billions of dollars of weapons into Ukraine, are calling Vladimir Putin a war criminal and issuing other fightin' words, are training Ukrainian troops and are trying to effect Moscow's economic destruction. It's also, senior American officials have now revealed, that via intelligence aid the U.S. has helped to: 

• Kill Moscow's generals; • Down a plane carrying Russian soldiers; and  • Sink one of Putin's warships.

It’s hard finding an American, anywhere, who believes Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a good thing. I’m no exception. War is ugly, and innocent people suffer as the pseudo-elites play their geopolitical chess games driven by power-lust, pocketbook and politics. This also isn’t about rooting for the “good guys.” For Vladimir Putin cannot be counted among them, and, for that matter, neither can ex-actor and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy or our globalist “leaders.” Rather, this concerns something else. When I was on some medication a while back and wanted to take Benadryl as well, for a more frivolous reason, I hesitated because I couldn’t determine how the drugs would interact. I didn’t take the Benadryl; as someone close to me put it, “You don’t want to risk dying over something stupid.”

Anybody who'd cancel George Washington should be considered a fifth-column member fit only for scorn and ostracism.  We've seen attacks upon Washington take many forms, with San Francisco's 2021 decision to rename a school bearing our first president's name a prime example. It's a red flag because it reflects hatred of America's very foundation, of everything she truly represents.

For quite some years now, the term "narrative" has been common in political circles. It generally has a negative connotation as it's used to reference a story line — an often largely fictional one — advanced by some ideologically driven entity for political gain.  This is why I saw a red flag Friday when, while writing an article on how leftist indoctrination permeates even conservative states' schools, I read a line about what a common modern pedagogy dictates was necessary to be a "culturally responsive educator" (read: an educator responsible for cultural revolution). Two prerequisites for it, related the Federalist, are "the rejection of colorblindness and replacing instruction about facts with narrative stories."

When Joe Biden's earpiece expresses, through his mouth, its firm intention to nominate a black female Supreme Court candidate, critics will say that race and sex shouldn't matter in such things. Well, don't worry — they won't.  Whoever Justice X ends up being, she'll almost assuredly vote in lockstep with white Elena Kagan and Hispanic Sonya Sotomayor. She'll almost definitely vote just the way white ACLU baby Ruth Bader Ginsburg did. This just underlines, too, how superficially made any “diversity” choice would be.

“You’re a racist!” We’ve all heard that often enough. In fact, as was once said in saner times about opportunistic patriotism, it’s now racism charges that are the last refuge of a scoundrel. As most know, there’s a contentious debate over whether it’s fair to let men who claim they’re female compete in women’s sports. And each side in the debate often claims vindication based on the most recent result. Yet there is a way to definitively and irrefutably (within the realm of reason) prove that one side is correct. 

The Global Warming Question That Can Change People's Minds

Late last year, I got into a discussion with a fellow who was quite sold on the idea that man's activities were warming the Earth. While not a hardcore ideologue, it was apparent the gentleman had accepted the climate change narrative presented by mainstream media and believed we truly were imperiling the planet. Are You Ready for Nuclear War Over Ukraine?

"Do you know we don't rule out first-use nuclear action?" So said Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) while outlining what measures the U.S. could take against Russia over Ukraine, at whose border Moscow has been massing troops. The senator's office later clarified that this comment related to American policy in general and not specifically to Russia. While this is actually believable (Wicker made a loose comment), what's unbelievable is that we're even considering a military confrontation with Moscow over something that does not at all involve a U.S. national interest.  Moreover, what else Wicker said, during a recent interview with Fox News host Neil Cavuto, is not reassuring. To wit: "Well, military action could mean that we stand off with our ships in the Black Sea and we rain destruction ... on Russia military capability," the Independent related him as stating. "It could mean that we participate, and I would not rule that out, I would not rule out American troops on the ground." 

Three Black Men Frame White Men for a Crime

In case you haven’t guessed, my title is another way of characterizing the hoax perpetrated by actor and malefactor Jussie Smollett, currently on trial for falsely claiming he was the victim of a 2019 “hate crime.” It’s a way of framing the frame that would be quite common were the races reversed. Of course, a white guy today doesn’t have to falsely claim anything to be demonized in media. He just has to be guilty of DWW — Defending While White, à la poor Kyle Rittenhouse or Mark McCloskey. As for Smollett, he pulls a jump-the-shark version of a “hate crime” hoax, and the media (see Robin Roberts et al.) just nod sympathetically.
