Ammunition? What Ammunition?

"War is much too serious a thing to be left to military men." So said French Prime Minister Aristide Briand to English Prime Minister Lloyd George during the First World War. Is a possible corollary to this "maxim" that: "Ammunition Purchases by a Federal Agency are too serious a thing to be left to Federal Government Cabinet Civilians?"

Is Freedom Just Another Word?

"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free..." - Me and Bobby McGee, Kris Kristofferson So it was depicted as Janis Joplin wailed out these bluesy words to this despondent tune back in 1969 at the height of the Vietnam War. I recall it well. But is it true? Is freedom really "nothing left to lose, and nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free?"

“These Hands”

I must Create a System, or be enslav'd by another Man's; I will not Reason and Compare: My business is to Create. - William Blake, "Jerusalem" The latest Romney commercial, "These Hands" says all that needs to be said about Obama. In the larger sense, it lays bare, the Marxist and Collectivist beliefs of Barack Hussein Obama.

Raising dogs instead of kids?

“You can say any fool thing to a dog and the dog will just give you this look that says, 'My GOSH, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!” ― Dave Barry

Castro & the Communist Conspiracy that Killed JFK

"Still it cried, 'Sleep no more!' to all the house: 'Glamis hath murder'd sleep, and therefore Cawdor Shall sleep no more, Macbeth shall sleep no more.'" - Wm Shakespeare, Macbeth II. ii. 53-55 Cliff Kincaid's recent article about the JFK assassination is well worth a thoughtful reading. If nothing else it will certainly arouse the naysayer’s and deniers. Let us have it out once and for all on this subject and pursue where evidence takes us.

“Bad Big Daddy”

"The wise are instructed by reason, average minds by experience, the stupid by necessity and the brute by instinct." - Marcus Tullius Cicero God Bless Joan Swirsky for her recent Canada Free Press article, "Bad Mommy." It is wonderful compendium about how America missed or ignored the signals of a growing Marxist menace in America.

Obama’s “Catholic Plan”

"What the sage poets taught by th' heavenly muse, Storied of old in high immortal verse Of dire chimeras and enchanted isles, And rifted rocks whose entrance leads to Hell, --- For such there be, but unbelief is blind." - John Milton, Comus, ll 515-519

Voting for Faith, Reason, and Heart

I have a favorite film about sports. It is entitled "Miracle." It is about the miraculous 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team. This young team of college lads clawed its way to the Gold Medal round, defeating the Swedes, the East Germans, the Czechs, the Finns, and most dramatically, the Soviet Union. Even knowing the outcome of the movie, I sit on the edge of my seat and cheer out loud [maybe you wouldn't, but I do] for the unabashedly patriotic themes about competition, faith, and family. Kurt Russell is fantastic in the Role of Coach Herb Brooks [who sadly passed away just before the movie screened].

Rule Number One

I thought to share with readers a humorous saying, backed up by a story in fact. A friend sent me this picture of a fox amid a group of hounds acting like it belongs there. The caption reads:
"RULE # ONE When you are in deep sh*t, Look straight ahead, Keep your mouth shut & say nothing."

“Freedom!”

"I rejoice that America has resisted. Three millions of people, so dead to all the feelings of liberty, as voluntarily to submit to be slaves, would have been fit instruments to make slaves of the rest." - William Pitt the Elder, Speech to the House of Commons, 1741 I was going through some "old stuff" [aka memories] in some old boxes and discovered a document that I want to share with you, my reader. It was technically known as a "Movement Order," but it was commonly called a "Flag Order" by all of us serving in West Berlin because of the prominent American Flag. Allen West on the Marines Incident: ‘Shut Your Mouth, War Is Hell’

A voice of sanity. Thank you, Congressman Allen West [LTC, USA, Retired]. May I suggest that Her Royal Highness HR Clinton and Professor Panetta take all of their liberal civilian buddies out to fight against the Taliban (once they have rid this country of these "monstrous" Marines])? Come, teach all of us Active, Retired and Veteran military how to lead soldiers in combat, and what their punishments should be for what amounts to malicious mischief.

Operation Market-Guarding: A Buck too Far

A Reagan Conservative

A recent article in the Daily Caller about Rick Santorum made an argument of what it means to be a Reagan Conservative. Saturday night [01/07] on the ABC GOP Debate coverage, I heard a lot of fast talk, and complex terminology. I remarked to my wife that this sounded more like a reading of the tax code and civil laws than an actual debate. In two hours of blather, my own preferred candidate, Governor Perry, was allowed to speak perhaps two or three whole minutes before being abruptly and rudely cut-off by ABC's Diane Sawyer or George Stephanopoulos. No kidding. What is going on here?

Iran Mocks Obama

"You know giving up the canal itself might be a better deal if we could throw in the state dept." - Ronald Reagan, 1978, speaking of Jimmy Carter's Treaty with Panama giving up U.S. control of the Panama Canal. "Reagan in His Own Hand." Iran gives the U.S. a Christmas present: Closing the Straits of Hormuz. Perhaps you missed this tidbit of news while the press muses 98% of their time about Newt-Romney.

Thou wicked, lazy Servant

“To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.” - Matthew 25:15 Dedicated to the brave American GIs and Allies, of World War Two who fought the Great Crusade that began on this day 70 years ago … December 7, 1941. I have often heard the above excerpt from Jesus’ “Parable of the Talents” used as a text-proof that Christians are supposed to be Socialists. Every time I hear this, I grab the duct tape to wrap around my forehead so that my head does not explode [apologies to Glenn Beck]. This is, of course, sophistry and folly on their part. Socialism is an economic construct of Utopian Collectivists of the mid-Eighteenth Century.

Looking for a few good Republicans

“Labour to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience.” - George Washington I begin this article with a salute to my fellow veterans and retired military for their steadfast courage and dedication to their oaths to protect and serve our great Country’s Constitution. May we all adhere to George Washington’s charge.
