Cameron’s faith flexible to accommodate political winds

Easter weekend is set aside to remember the Biblical accounts of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many it has become, like many holiday periods, a time for shopping and family gatherings. While Jesus may be supportive of family time, holiday shopping sprees illustrate where the faith of many has departed.

School food fight brings ban

Castle View School on Canvey Island in Essex experienced some form of hostilities during the lunch period March 20th resulting in food being thrown by pupils. It’s not clear if it was a major skirmish or an isolated sniper attack but one boy in year 7 (age 11-12) was hit near the eye by a triangular shaped flapjack.

The Eastleigh By-Election

On the south coast of England this coming Thursday will be the culmination of another in a long line of political spectacles, commonly known as the by-election. (for Americans and some others that’s a special election) This is triggered by the vacating of a seat in the British Parliament due usually to death or corruption, and in this case most definitely the latter. Incumbent Chris Huhne, of the Liberal Democrat Party, has stood down on account of being caught speeding (in a car, not on drugs); and then successfully assigning blame to his wife.

The Wealth Tax eyes Britain

Not to be outdone by the French, as well as lefties in the United States, Britain’s Liberal-Democratic Party (Lib-Dems.) are floating ideas for a comprehensive wealth tax. What does Britain’s so called centre party have in mind? How about taxes on jewellery including rings & necklaces! Throw in some of your furniture and paintings and you’ve got a new source of revenue for Westminster bureaucrats. Not off limits is an expansion of the mansion tax to include holiday homes and buy-to-let properties.
