The Flies Buzzing Around the Obamas

When First Lady Michelle Obama steps out of her White House Picture Frame on her end of February nationwide tour, to take credit for not only halting--but reversing--childhood obesity, folk should be thinking “fertilizer”. The White House crediting Obama’s failed Let’s Move initiative as salvation for obese children everywhere is well fertilized with the same matter fertilizing her White House ‘organic’ garden.
Sludge (human excrement) has fertilized the White House garden ever since the Clintons were in residence. Could it be that Michelle and not Beelzebub is responsible for all the flies that use President Barack Obama as a landing field? Flies are attracted to that impolite word that should never appear in family-read news sites. But there’s plenty of the stinking substance the impolite word describes in Michelle’s garden because it is fertilized by sewage sludge, even though organic certification processes strictly prohibit the use of sludge as a fertilizer substitute. According to tests conducted by the National Park Service, the dirt beneath Michelle’s garden indicates highly elevated levels of lead averaging 93 parts per million (ppm). The EPA recommends not growing food in soil that has 100 ppm.

The worms that ruined Michelle’s garden, planted in 2009, come with the names Bill and Hillary. “The Clinton White House apparently used a sludge-based product to fertilize the lawn during the 1990s! (dailyfinance.com, July 30, 2009). “Aside from casting a shadow on the first White House vegetable garden since Eleanor Roosevelt resided there, the sludge ensures that Michelle’s garden will never attain organic status.” So know we know why Michelle’s organic garden stinks, how about White House claims that she’s reversed the 30-year-long childhood obesity trend? Here’s the sludge on childhood obesity: As recently as only a few weeks ago news from the Whitehousedossier.com indicated that Michelle appeared to have abandoned, at least for now, her oft-criticized “Let’s Move!” initiative to promote exercise and healthy eating among the nation’s youth, halting public appearances and statements related to the program. “Michelle’s exit from the Let’s Move campaign coincided with growing reports and a widely circulated satirical video alleging that the new food guidelines were leaving children hungry. The bad publicity clashed with President Obama’s efforts to stir support among young voters for his candidacy. Many of Obama’s campaign events were held at high schools--presumably among students who might have been attending rallies on relatively empty stomachs.” (Whitehousedossier.com, Jan. 29, 2013) Today came the switcheroo:
“Today the White House credited Michelle Obama's three-year-old “Let's Move” initiative with halting and even reversing a thirty year trend of increasing childhood obesity, a trend that has led to what the Centers for Disease Control has called an epidemic. A press release from the Office of the First Lady announced details of a "two day nationwide tour" at the end of the month to celebrate the third anniversary of the program that promotes exercise and healthy eating habits to young people. The press release also included a short history of the program (emphasis added): (Weeklystandard.com, Feb. 21, 2013). “Mrs. Obama launched Let’s Move! on February 9, 2010 to unite the country around our kids’ health and create real support for families to live healthier lives.  Since then parents, business leaders, educators, elected officials, military leaders, chefs, physicians, athletes, childcare providers, community and faith leaders and kids themselves have stepped up to improve the health of our nation’s children. “Thanks to these efforts, families now have access to more information to make healthier decisions for their children. Young people now have more opportunities for physical activity in their communities. Food in schools has been dramatically improved. More Americans now have access to healthy, affordable food closer to home. And the national childhood obesity rate has leveled off, and even declined in some cities and states.
Nothing in the press release indicating that the food she tried to foist on school kids was causing so much wastage that the Department of Agriculture had to consider shelving it. Nada about the fact it was millions of mothers who got the kids eating again by simply packing their lunches the way they always did. Indeed, the press release does not include any data to bolster any of Obama’s claims. After a pre-tour appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, scheduled to air on Feb. 22, Obama's whistle-stop tour will consist of stops in Clinton, Mississippi; Chicago, Illinois; and Springfield, Missouri. Three and a half years is a long time to sustain the guaranteed booing of mothers who continue to stand firm in the battle of providing their school children nourishing, made-at-home lunches rather than ones that come by government edict. Meanwhile, the flies keep buzzing around Barack and Michelle Obama.
