“What’s going on here is nothing short of amazing. It’s probably the best video I’ve ever seen, on any topic of any length. (and yes, that includes Game of Thrones).” “The opening quote—“If we destroy creation, creation will destroy us”—is an actual line from one of the pope’s recent sermons on the environment. It is expected to form the heart of his argument in the forthcoming letter to the world’s Catholic churches. “It just gets better from there.”That at one point in the video, Jesus appears in the corner of a boxing ring as the pope prepares for fossil fuel battle, saying, “The power of me compels you”, some would certainly argue that the pope’s take on climate change couldn’t possibly get any worse. The Vatican condemned the early release of the document in which the pontiff calls on people to change their lifestyles and energy consumption or face grave consequences, but remains silent on the video’s portrayal of Jesus in a boxing ring?! “According to the lengthy draft, which was obtained and published by L’Espresso magazine, the Argentinean pope will align himself with the environmental movement and its objectives. While accepting that there may be some natural causes of global warming, the pope will also state that climate change is mostly a man-made problem. (The Guardian, June 16, 2015)
“Humanity is called to take note of the need for changes in lifestyle and changes in methods of production and consumption to combat this warming, or at least the human causes that produce and accentuate it,” he wrote in the draft. “Numerous scientific studies indicate that the greater part of the global warming in recent decades is due to the great concentration of greenhouse gases … given off above all because of human activity.” “The pope will also single out those obstructing solutions. In an apparent reference to climate-change deniers, the draft states: “The attitudes that stand in the way of a solution, even among believers, range from negation of the problem, to indifference, to convenient resignation or blind faith in technical solutions.”That neither the Vatican, nor the pontiff condemned the portrayal of Jesus in the climate change video’s boxing ring egging on ‘super hero’ Pope Francis is an insult to all sincere Christians. The sad truth is that, under Francis, the papacy has drifted over from religion to politics; from the saving of souls to outright propagandizing. It is one thing for Pope Francis to throw in with the propaganda of the far left on global warming. Quite another to star in a YouTube that ridicules Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, comfort comes from the realization that while climates and pontiffs often change, Jesus never does.
