Jeb! SuperPAC Lobs hail Mary by releasing new ad featuring W

Whether you think George W. Bush was the greatest President in U.S. history, the worst President in U.S. history, or was somewhere in between, you can't deny one thing: At the end of his two terms as Commander in Chief, he was toxic. So, what does it say about Jeb Bush's campaign that his SuperPAC is releasing ads featuring Jeb's big brother? Here's the spot:

There are a few interesting things about this spot. The first is that it simply wouldn't exist if Jeb weren't languishing in the polls. If Jeb was really in the running, there's simply no way that he'd bring in a figure as polarizing as his brother. Jeb can claim he's proud of his family all he likes, and we're sure he is, but it wasn't that long ago he was adamant about being 'his own man.' It's pretty clear this is a last ditch effort. The second is that, by law, PAC's aren't allowed to work with candidates. Obviously, we all assume they all do it anyway, but here is an example of potential collusion that will probably raise a few eyebrows. No one in their right mind believes that W is going to go out there and film spots for Jeb without Jeb's approval. Finally, it's not a bad idea. Time has been kind to W, and the polling shows that 8 years of Obama have cast the Bush years in a more favorable light. Dubya's numbers aren't likely to reverse Jeb's fortunes but, whatever the left says, he won't destroy them either. Frankly, at this point Jeb has little to lose, so if you're pulling the strings of his campaign you might as well try anything.
