Leave it to the squawking lib-left media to descend like the proverbial ton of bricks on 59-year-old Kevin Vickers’ heroic act all because he grabbed and dragged a protester away from the podium at a ceremony set aside to honour British soldiers killed putting down the 1916 Easter Rising of Irish nationalists against British rule. It is the custom for citizens worldwide to be able to honour their war dead without the unwanted , disrespectful interference of protesters. Vickers, now Canada’s Ambassador to Ireland, was the former Common’s sergeant-at-arms, celebrated world wide as a hero after he shot and killed armed Montreal mosque goer Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who had minutes earlier shot honorary guard Cpl. Nathan Cirillo to death at Canada’s National War Memorial, on Oct. 22, 2014.
“When Parliament resumed the next day, Vickers was given a standing ovation by members. And three months later, the New Brunswick native was appointed ambassador to Ireland by the former Conservative government.” (Toronto Star, May 27, 2016) This was a move bound to stick in the craw of the incoming Justin Trudeau-led Liberal government and their mainstream media boosters. “While some social media commentators hailed Vickers as a Canadian superhero, questions were raised about why he attended such a potentially divisive event, and why the ambassador felt it appropriate to engage physically with a lone protester taking public issue with a state event in his own country.” (Toronto Star) According to the lib-left media a ceremony to honour British soldiers is written off as “a potentially divisive event”. Surely many readers can see some media’s excessive use of the word “lone”: “a lone gunman”, “a lone protester”. Both here and abroad, this is the weekend when citizens attend ceremonies to honour their war dead.

The lib-left media of the day pay only lip service and do not honour the war dead but openly side with the protesters of such events. Like most others at Thursday’s military ceremony, at Dublin’s Grangegorman Military Cemetery, Ambassador Vickers was there to pay his respect to the British soldiers killed putting down the 1916 Easter Rising. Surely the war dead deserve to be honoured for their courageous services rather than protested against. Brian Murphy, foiled in protest by Vickers, was there only to disrupt the ceremony. “The ambassador’s televised take-down of Murphy at the Grangegorman Military Cemetery was greeted with widespread cheers on Canadian social media.”(MetroNews)
“Video of the altercation appears to show Vickers briefly chasing Murphy before forcibly wrestling him along a walkway past a stone-faced guard of honour.” Aren’t guards of honour “stone-faced” by their very nature? ...”Experts in security and diplomacy say Vickers’ decision to take matters into his own hands raises serious questions of judgment. (National Post, May 28, 2016) “From what I can see of all this, it was certainly an over-reaction on the part of the ambassador, at a minimum,” said Gar Pardy, a former Canadian diplomat and director general of consular affairs. (National Post)
“Pardy said the incident may quickly blow over unless the Irish government chooses to raise a formal diplomatic complaint, which he doubts it will do. A spokesman at the Irish embassy in Ottawa said Friday he could offer no comment whatsoever on the incident."
Pardy could have easily added or unless the mainstream media is successful in flagging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to issue a Vickers reprimand.
“And Terrence Chase, a former Canadian Forces soldier who is the director of Surrey, B.C.-based Defense Intelligence Service, said in an interview that Vickers “pulled a Chretien” and should have had an assigned security escort, given the nature of the commemoration. (National Post) “Security’s responsibility is to get the VIP out of the area,” said Chase, whose firm provides international diplomatic security services. “Part of our training is to prevent the VIP from harm, and sometimes that harm can be from themselves in that they’ll pull a Chretien.”
“Pull A Chretien”? It seem that some folks will do anything possible to pull getting a prominent Liberal name into the story of a superhero valiantly trying to protect the dignity of the war dead. “Prime Minister Jean Chrétien is in Hull, Que., on Feb. 15, 1996, to commemorate the first National Flag of Canada Day. But the celebration is upstaged by a bizarre altercation. When confronted by protester Bill Clennett, Chrétien grabs Clennett's throat and forces him to the ground. This un-prime-ministerial response startles everyone, especially Chrétien's victim. "He came... and put me to the ground," Clennett describes in this TV clip. (CBC Archives) “The 44-year-old man was part of a small but vocal group protesting planned cuts to unemployment insurance benefits. The prime minister, a self-described "little guy from Shawinigan," defends his actions. "Some people came my way... and I had to go, so if you're in my way," says Chrétien before driving away.”

Led by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the slyboots Canadian media are hoping that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will consider Vickers tackling the protester if the issue is “formally raised”. (Canada PM pressed to respond to incident involving Brian Murphy at Grangegorman). (Irish Times, May 28, 2016) “Canadian prime minster Justin Trudeau has said he will consider the issue of ambassador Kevin Vickers tackling a protester at a ceremony in Dublin if it is formally brought to his attention.” (Irish Times) Isn’t that inviting a formal complaint? Is a formal complaint really valid if it is launched by the media? Memorials, cemeteries and ceremonies for the war dead are becoming the dumping grounds for the perpetual protesters of the lib-left , and vandals. This Memorial Day weekend in the U.S. saw the Viet Nam War memorial defaced in Venice, a district of Los Angeles, leaving it covered in graffiti “from end to end”; a second attack at Anniston’s Centennial Memorial Park, where all flags were vandalized and and the Purple Heart plant bed for the wounded ripped out in Richland, Washington. Heroic Kevin Vickers, who dared to defend the dignity of the war dead against a protester, in a military cemetery is a role model for Memorial Day 2016. The war dead should be honoured by all because it was their sacrifice that gave the rest of us freedom. Thank You, Kevin Vickers for having the gonads to do what we all should be willing to do for the protection of the dignity of of the war dead.
