Trump's Galt-Right Movement

Ayn Rand's classic novel, Atlas Shrugged, opens with the question "Who is John Galt?" It's a question often repeated amid an ongoing quest to discover the answer. John Galt is a man who opts out of a failed society, who rejects a nation near collapse, an eroding economy, escalating crime, and an authoritarian government for a better life. Galt then recruits society's producers, smart, inventive people, the best of the best. They gather in a secret community, Galt's Gulch, and set to work to rebuild what they've lost. In Hillary Clinton's "alt-right" speech, I see shades of Rand's dystopian society, feelings over thoughts, words over action. Hillary went for the jugular of feelings with the most divisive, insulting, and damaging words in the Democrat lexicon. It's frightening to realize her hate speech will reach a segment of voters because that's not who Donald Trump is, not who his supporters are. We are not "alt-right".

But then I was browsing Free Republic, an on-line conservative site, and saw this:

Donald Trump is the leader of the "Galt-Right", a movement which rewards success, freedom and individuality.

Bingo! I'm with the Trump movement and believe me, this is who we are. Trump's right when he says it's a movement. Like John Galt, Trump is organizing the producers, the workers, people who want to opt out of the dark, oppressive Obama/Hillary America to rebuild this country. But it won't be easy. There's a reason Galt's Gulch is a secret community, they can't beat the establishment from within. John Galt realizes this when the revolutionary motor he designed is taken over by the factory and included in the collectivist maxim, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need". That's when Galt quits, abandons his motor, and begins the strike. We're now enmeshed in that same collectivism. We even had an open socialist, Bernie Sanders, run for President and he damn near won. Bernie's message? Gut the rich. There's no thought for the thousands employed by the rich, no fear of bankrupting businesses and putting those people out of work. Nope, Bernie's answer to the rich, the Democrat's answer to the rich, hand it over.

It's a lynch mob screaming 'Tax the rich!' Oh yeah, let's turn to that epitome of fairness, our federal income tax. First, the poor don't pay taxes. In fact they stand to make a sizable profit with the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Now there's an oxymoron, a hefty refund for people who didn't earn enough to pay taxes. And it can be quite a haul, $53,267 for a family of three, married filing jointly. I'm not sure welfare can measure up to our good old EITC. In fact that's more than many working Americans earn. But then I miss the point. Our income tax is doing the right thing, robbing from the rich and doling it out to the less-rich. Or maybe not since these refunds are primarily funded by the middle class, annoying little details, right? Trump gets lots of advice these days, he needs this group or that group. My advice is get the victims, it's the largest voting bloc out there. Who are these victims? Wikipedia summed it up nicely in their Atlas Shrugged summary. Sanction of the victim

The concept "sanction of the victim" is defined by Leonard Peikoff as "the willingness of the good to suffer at the hands of the evil, to accept the role of sacrificial victim for the 'sin' of creating values".[29] Accordingly, throughout Atlas Shrugged, numerous characters are frustrated by this sanction, as when Hank Rearden appears duty-bound to support his family, despite their hostility toward him; later, the principle is stated by Dan Conway: "I suppose somebody's got to be sacrificed. If it turned out to be me, I have no right to complain".

This is who we've become, sacrificial victims who have lost our self-respect, who accept that we don't deserve better as we continue to let others define us. We're called racists if we don't support illegal immigrants and Syrian migrants despite their hostility towards us, in spite of the danger they pose. We aren't allowed to say who can or can't live in our country, not allowed to oppose the meme that we owe all we have to everyone else and must share.

We're labeled bigots if we decline to expose our daughters to pedophiles in what was formerly women's bathrooms and dressing rooms. We're chastised for trying to define our privacy, our personal space, our morals. We're not allowed to make personal judgements if they affect anyone else anywhere in the world. We must accept that everyone else's rights supersede our own. We're called selfish and greedy if we want to keep the money we earn. We're not entitled to success if it means others can't match our bank accounts, can't have everything we have. We're selfish if we don't give our fair share and we can't say what that fair share is, that will be determined by others. The message is clear, we're all one, what's ours is theirs. The guy putting in 60-hour work weeks doesn't deserve any more than the slouch who spends his day playing video games or watching his big screen TV. And shame on that kid whose parents worked four jobs to put their child through college. Why is he entitled to a better education than others who can't afford it? But here's the dirty little secret, it will never even out. When you take from that kid's education fund to pay for others, he no longer gets a good education but neither does anyone else. Eventually, the standards will level off at inadequate but by God no one will get a better education than the next guy. And this money that's being confiscated from the rich isn't going to be equally redistributed to the poor. Oh no, too many Clinton-types who line their pockets, skim what they consider to be their share off the top. The Clintons went from dead broke to a net worth of $200 million dollars, and another $2 billion in their "Foundation" by selling out America. This obsession for cash won't go away if they control all the money, they just won't have to work as hard to get to it. No, those at the top aren't going to take monk's vows to serve the people. Even poor old Bernie, the champion of grab the cash and split it up, just purchased a 3rd home, a vacation home worth over a half million dollars. How very utopian of you, Bernie. There's never been a socialist or communist government where the people don't lose. Those governments simply trade the upper and middle class for the ruling and lower class .Guess which one you'll be in. Donald Trump is making a plea to the inner cities, you can be successful. You can be safe, provide for your family, give them a good education, and put them on the ladder to success. But the victim mentality runs deep in today's society and many don't know how to shake it off, many don't want to. For those who do want a better life, join us. You don't have to settle for the government's take on what your fair share should be, you can set your own goals with no limits. You don't have to sacrifice your individualism to fit in with the community, you can stand out, rise above the status quo, and write your own ticket. It's not wrong to control your own destiny or to give your children a promising future.
