Go, Kellie, go! The basket of deplorables needs you

When it comes to having a ‘Basket of Deplorables,’ Canada is Number 1!!!

Conservative Party leadership candidate Kellie Leitch caused a stir last week when she sent out a questionnaire asking Canadians if they think new immigrants should be screened to see if they have anti-Canadian values. The reaction from the left was predictable; but that paled in comparison to the reaction of high-profile members of the CPC from the interim leader to the other leadership candidates. With the exception of Leitch, the notion that the main duty of a government is to protect its citizens has gone the way of the ten-cent cup of coffee. Political correctness rules. Anyone who opposes the notion that Canada should not allow immigrants who hate our way of life to come here is a xenophobe, a racist, a homophobe and most importantly, Islamophobic.
Torstar, the parent company of the Victims’ Daily, a.k.a. the Toronto Star, commissioned a poll to find out what the unwashed masses think of Leitch’s idea. No doubt the elites were shocked at the results. The poll, conducted by Forum Research Inc., was released on Friday. Over two thirds (67%) of those polled believe potential immigrants who hold anti-Canadian values should not be allowed to come to Canada. Forum Research polled 1,370 random Canadians days after Leitch’s questionnaire became public. The most notable fact seen in the results of the poll is the percentage of Canadians who are conservative or who support the CPC is nowhere near two-thirds of the population. While 87% of Conservative supporters agreed with Leitch, so did 57% of Liberals and 59% of those who support the socialist NDP.

In a speech to one of Hillary Clinton’s favourite special interest groups, the LGBT community, Clinton said one- half of Donald Trump’s supporters could be put in a “basket of deplorables,” meaning they are racists, homophobes, xenophobes, Islamophobes and simply well-rounded bigots. By comparison, more than two-thirds of all Canadians, can be put in that basket. After all, what other reason could there be for wanting newcomers screened to weed out those that hate us and want to bring their 7th century values with them? Clinton, who used to be described as the smartest woman in the world, made two fundamental mistakes when she said half of Trump’s supporters should be put in a basket of deplorables. One, it was an unusual but catchy phrase to use. And two, it was only three words. Within a day of her statement, “Proud Member of the Basket of Deplorables” t-shirts were available for sale on Amazon (available in five different colours). With memes, clothing and bumper stickers, that expression will not go away time soon. As some have noted, this could be Hillary’s “47%” moment. Romney’s statement that 47% of Americans are dependent upon government was a major gaffe that pretty well sunk his 2012 chances. The phrase, “basket of deplorables” is bound to last long after the November election and will undoubtedly outlive Hillary which does not appear to say much. In the next few days and weeks, contrary to what Clinton said the phrase means, Basket of deplorables will be used proudly by Trump supporters.

Percentage-wise, there are more Canadians in the basket than there are Americans. We truly are Number 1. Those who are criticizing Leitch, most notably sitting members of her own party, think the same as Hillary does. Supporters of Leitch should wear the badge of being put into a basket of deplorables proudly. Many do not think Leitch has a chance of ever winning the CPC leadership. The same was said of Trump when he entered the Republican primaries against establishment candidates such as Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. Go, Kellie, go! The basket of deplorables needs you.
