Eco-Terrorism

A few deluded souls using bolt-cutters were breaking into locked transmission stations to interrupt the flow of oil across the Dakotas. According to a report by npr (http://www.npr.org), the group ‚"Climate Disobedience Action Fund" said on their website (https://actionfund-climatedisobedience.nationbuilder.com) that a total of nine people affiliated with the group were arrested for tampering with two pipelines in Minnesota, and three others in Washington State, North Dakota and Montana. In fact, the Disobedience perpetrators did not just shut down the flow in one pipeline but simultaneously also in several others, obviously in a well-coordinated action.

What's the Goal?

Despite hefty fines and/or jail terms for such deeds, it does not seem to deter them. At least one of them has served time for related activity. In fact, Annette Klapstein, one of the perpetrators, said: ‚"I am very happy to be out of jail, and amazed at all the support and love that's been flowing in for us--this is the strength and beauty of our movement, and it makes us far more powerful than the fossil fuel industry will ever be. Given the enormity of the crisis, we know that we had to do this, and we know that by acting in a way that begins to be commensurate with the risks we all face, we can give people hope to stay below 1.5C, and pressure politicians to begin to act appropriately." Ken Ward, of Corbett, OR, who turned the valve on Kinder-Morgan's TransMountain pipeline said: ‚"I am charged with sabotage, among other things, for trying to stop one of the very worst sources of carbon emissions, which are sabotaging the conditions that make civilization possible and on which the security of the nation depends." There you have it: these deluded people think that their actions will prevent the earth's temperature (‚"climate") from rising. ‚"Carbon [dioxide] emissions" they claim, will ‚"sabotage the conditions that make civilization possible." What hogwash! Not only will their actions not make one iota difference to the earth's climate, neither A. Klapstein nor K. Ward are directly affected by the construction or operation of any of the pipelines they were attacking. Instead, they live in pleasant neighborhoods of western Oregon and Washington State.

Bigots and Terrorists

You may wonder how they got from their places on the west coast to the middle of the plains? Did they travel by foot, bicycle, or donkey? More likely than not they used modern transportation, using ‚"carbon" spewing internal combustion engines of one sort or another. They are wearing vests and hats made from carbon and are brandishing a steel cutter made from coal (essentially pure carbon) and iron ore, mined with more carbon to power the machinery. These people are not only not saving the climate or contributing in a positive way to the well-being of the population at large; in fact, they are bigots and eco-religious terrorists.
