Selling access to the White House can do only one thing--backfire

There are no heroes, folks

Not as far as politics goes. Selling access to the White House can do only one thing--backfire. History has proven beyond any measure of doubt that the more you auction off entrée to the seat of power, that very power weakens as each favor is fulfilled. It compromises power to the point of submission. By the time the office-holder (in this case, the president) has advertised that anyone with the price of admission can expect their request to be granted, respect has long gone. That price of admission is the price of power--yours, and you've sold it for a bowl of soup. Somebody out there is asking, "what has power to do with soup?" A fair question for those who are not familiar with the story of Jacob and Esau, but to condense it into one sentence: Esau was starving when he came in from the field and so intent on self that he sold his birthright for something to eat. Genesis 24:29-34
Still wondering the point? Esau was in line to inherit his father's fortune but to satisfy an immediate desire, he sold his future. The corollary to this is the Clinton hunger for wealth. It is such a consuming desire for Hillary and Bill that they have sought political office after office to feed it by peddling influence. They've been very successful in this lifelong endeavor except they forgot one thing: once the power is gone, it's gone and there's nothing left to sell. Now "Esau" must beg for the next bowl of soup, and he is despised for it. There is an additional aspect to this conundrum. Once you've compromised all your power to build your wealth, you've so undermined your own power and influence that the wealth can buy you nothing. Your wealth is worthless if you have no respect. It is stripped from you because the power now belongs to someone else. And what will they do with the power you've provided them? They take your wealth, for you no longer have any way to protect it, and treat you with derision. In short, diminish your power by selling it and you've diminished your wealth in that the new owner can now take it from you at any time. It's a no-win situation and it is precisely the situation in which the United States is now finding itself. First) President Obama opened the borders and freely handed over power to other nations by downsizing the military to the point of curtailing our ability to influence foreign policy. All done to ingratiate the United States to other countries that have no concept of Freedom that is our way of life. Second) Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, purposely sold access to state policies and secrets solely for personal enrichment, the Clinton Foundation garnering and processing the funds. Third) Clinton heads a no-holds-barred campaign for the White House in order to fulfill her promises and cement a power base. The foregoing was not denied by Clinton in the final debate October 19. However, the fourth part of the equation is something she, Obama and the democrat party did not anticipate--the fact that by the time she enters the presidency, the power is so dispersed among others cashing in their IOUs (and possessing more weaponry than the initial owners--US) that there is nothing left to sell or even give away. The United States is an empty shell, depleted of power. And the wealth Hillary had so diligently socked away has no leverage.

This is what has already begun. Not just eight years ago with Obama's ascendance to the throne, or so he sees it, but over a decades' long undermining of the People's voice. What is most egregious is the calumny of elected officials who succumbed to the very same siren call of self-serving wealth accumulation, wealth built on an empty empire, stripped bare of resources and human will. The arduous journey of nearly two years leading up to the election has pared the choice down to two candidates: one an arcane, cunning politician and the other an effusive celebrity-entrepreneur. (Makes you wonder if the steady elongating of the cycle has been designed to steer voters into a trance where any outcome is acceptable, good bad or ugly.) The problem is now that voters think they've been gypped even though they voted. Some of the reasoning goes back to the decline of faith in the system as unregulated voter registration ensures there are millions of non-citizens, felons, dead people, pets and false names on the voter roles. Despite this outcome, many voters hoped for and expected a miracle in the persona of a perfect or near perfect candidate to set things right. When no such person ended up representing any of the parties, well-meaning individuals stepped in. Unfortunately, for all their good intentions it has done nothing but muddy the waters further. There is good reason why Ted Cruz declined to take this role, realizing where the battle lines now lay.

The following will raise ire but... Evan McMullin, no doubt a good conservative, by tossing his hat in the ring obviously thought to stand for something when, by default, he is now standing in the way. How? By supplying the #NeverWhoevers perceived moral high ground to take a stand on pride, avoid making a heart-wrenching decision and just, well, letting the chips fall where they may. We can wipe our hands of the dirty deeds around us, but virtual fence-sitting and carping about the results solves nothing. Too many of us have sweat blood spilling facts for 10, 20, 30 years only to be ignored and then sneered at by those who refuse to wade in to separate the simple dirt from the offal. There is another argument being raised for supporting the independent--that of hoping to throw enough of a monkey wrench into the Electoral College that the decision ends up with Congress. Seriously, does anyone believe Congress wouldn't cave again and place a self-serving money launderer behind the desk of the Oval Office? How many republicans have already indicated they might back the democrat just to keep their cushy jobs? If our motive is that of being 'right' and admonishing, "I told you so" while watching what's left of the country disintegrate, we've done ourselves a disservice. Bringing up history again, it's important to understand how God has used evil individuals to destroy a disobedient nation but regularly worked through imperfect men to raise up and revive a nation. This may be one of those times. No, there are no heroes. There is, however, greed that destroys for its own profit, and there is hope that, even on shaky ground, builds for the nation's benefit. Dig deep before you choose one of these or a conscience-soothing alternative.
