"If everyone is against you, you're probably doing something right."

Hear Donald Trump Jr. on The Herman Cain Show

This was not a long interview but I got two encouraging takeaways from it, although the first is encouraging in a dark sort of way. He's right in saying that anyone running just against an opponent as inept and corrupt as Hillary would be winning in a landslide. But you're not just running against Hillary. You're running against the media ("her top surrogate"), Hollywood, PC culture and Wall Street. He should have added pretty much the entire political class And yet, with the election days away, they've got a real chance at pulling this out.
The second point is that the Republicans control the House and Senate, and they cave all the time anyway. That's not an encouraging fact, obviously, but since it's one we've discussed in this space many times it's encouraging to hear the Trump people say it. Supposedly the divisions between Trump and congressional leaders are a reason to think governance will not be smooth if Trump wins. I think otherwise. I look back to the Bush Administration - and unlike many of you I think W. was overall an excellent president - but I recall that on many of the more ambitious and conservative imperatives Bush favored, he faced a very nervous Republican Congress. Bill Frist, Dennis Hastert and Tom DeLay did not want to rock the boat and incur the wrath of the media, and Bush felt that if he openly picked fights with them, then the media would have a field day with the "Republican civil war" and the result would be that they would lose control of Congress. As it happened, of course, they lost it anyway in 2006. So it did no good to back down to try to protect them. Ultimately they lost their majority because they didn't do anything with it when they had it.

I don't think Trump will approach things like that. He will want to work with Congress, but he won't accept their many excuses for inaction. What DJT Jr. said here demonstrates that they know Republican Congresses tend to fold like cheap suits, and even when a Republican is president they still fold for fear of criticism. If they now have to fear President Trump even more, I think there's a much better chance you'll get that ObamaCare repeal and all kinds of other things as well. Here's the interview:
