Mike Pence confirms: Romney under 'active & serious consideration' for Secretary of State

Obviously, most political observers have heard the rumor that Mitt Romney was in the running to become President Donald Trump's Secretary of State. Until yesterday, however, it was just that - a rumor. There were stories about meetings, deals, and discussions, but nothing concrete. Then, Vice President-elect Mike Pence appeared on "Face the Nation." It's a "rumor" no more.
Yes, I know what you're thinking. I'm thinking it too. This is what Romney said about Trump just a few short months ago (See Below) I get that politics make strange bedfellows. I understand that you keep your enemies close. I even recognize that making Romney part of the administration might appease the middle-of-the-road RINO contingent within the GOP. However; I simply can't wrap my head around how this guy can work with the man he so viciously attacked during the primaries. Romney has also been floated as Trump's pick to fix the VA quagmire. Given Mitt's backgroound, that makes a little more sense, but still, if Mitt truly believes Trump is as dangerous and destructive as he once claimed, how does he jettison all that rhetoric and sign up for a hitch in the administration? More importantly, why would he? It's possible that none of this is serious. There could be any number of games going on behind the scenes. But, if Romney joins team Trump, it will be one of the greatest 180's in political history. It also begs the question: Was he lying when he attempted to destroy Trump's candidacy, or is he lying now that he's looking at becoming part of Trump's cabinet? His accusations were too bold, too specific, and too brutal to try and have it both ways.
