Over the recently concluded election cycle the once-great Washington Post became a peddler of the most outrageous left-wing propaganda. It lied about now President-elect Donald Trump over and over again in a failed attempt to put Hillary Clinton in the White House.
Instead of accepting that Clinton was The Worst Candidate of All Time the WaPo is making excuses.
Now it claims a vast Russian conspiracy planted “fake news” before American eyeballs and that’s the real reason Trump won.
Tinfoil hat wearing reporter Craig Timberg writes:
Two teams of independent researchers found that the Russians exploited American-made technology platforms to attack U.S. democracy at a particularly vulnerable moment, as an insurgent candidate harnessed a wide range of grievances to claim the White House. The sophistication of the Russian tactics may complicate efforts by Facebook and Google to crack down on “fake news,” as they have vowed to do after widespread complaints about the problem.
There is no way to know whether the Russian campaign proved decisive in electing Trump, but researchers portray it as part of a broadly effective strategy of sowing distrust in U.S. democracy and its leaders. The tactics included penetrating the computers of election officials in several states and releasing troves of hacked emails that embarrassed Clinton in the final months of her campaign.
There is no actual hard evidence of which I am aware that Russia had anything to do with the awe-inspiring document dump of Clinton-era State Department emails, Clinton campaign emails, and Clinton Foundation emails that no doubt (and quite properly) undermined voter confidence in the shamelessly corrupt Hillary. We just keep hearing from alleged anonymous sources in the intelligence community that it is a fact that Russia was behind all of this.
It is possible Russia was involved but the say-so of unnamed sources is not enough. (Besides, even if Russia was involved the authenticity of the leaked documents was never seriously called into question by the Clinton campaign. Campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri’s whine that the documents should be ignored because Russia was involved never gained traction.)
The obvious purpose of left-wing useful idiot Craig Timberg’s article is to call into question the legitimacy of Trump’s victory in order to undermine his presidency, and more generally, to assault conservatives and Republicans.
Let’s look at some of the garbage in Timberg’s short-form fiction.
“Russian-backed phony news” was behind “[s]ome of the first and most alarming tweets after Clinton fell ill at a Sept. 11 memorial event in New York.” She did in fact fall ill at the event, a fact that would never have been reported by the mainstream media if an onlooker hadn’t captured Clinton collapsing as she was entering a vehicle and being held up by two security men. She gave the unlikely excuse that she had come down with pneumonia and the media ran with it, ignoring the fact that she suffered brain damage in recent years when she sustained a nasty concussion.
Timberg continues to spin a yarn claiming that there had been “a spate of other misleading stories in August about Clinton’s supposedly troubled health.” In fact there were plenty of stories indicating she was in poor health. Those stories were in the main true. Hillary, with her prolonged coughing fits and other physical symptoms, is pretty clearly in terrible physical shape.

Russia’s “propaganda machinery also helped push the phony story that an anti-Trump protester was paid thousands of dollars to participate in demonstrations, an allegation initially made by a self-described satirist and later repeated publicly by the Trump campaign.”
Well, the evidence is fairly convincing that the Clinton campaign did in fact pay anti-Trump protesters to participate in demonstrations and foment violence at Trump campaign rallies. Democrat uber-thug Robert Creamer has admitted that Hillary personally knew about the false flag operation.
Timberg adds, “The final weeks of the campaign featured a heavy dose of stories about supposed election irregularities, allegations of vote-rigging and the potential for Election Day violence should Clinton win, researchers said.”
This is all very interesting except that in the modern era all presidential elections are filled with allegations of electoral irregularities.
It’s normal and it happens with or without fanciful conspiracy theories.
