Hillary on Capitol Hill: 'Fake news' is a danger to America and 'must be addressed quickly'

Boy, the political class is really going all in with this "fake news" business. Now Hillary herself has slithered out of her lair to demand that something be done - as if we needed another reason to be glad she isn't about to become president:
She's making a thinly veiled reference here to the recent shooting at a Washington pizza place called Comet Ping Pong, where an armed man showed up ostensibly to "investigate" child trafficking that Alex Jones types claim was going on there at the behest of John Podesta and others connected to the Clintons. As far as I know it's not true, but the incident is just a little too perfect for Democrats who like to take every incident that occurs and use it as an excuse to further take away the freedoms of Americans. Does anyone remember the media claiming that a certain Michael Brown of Ferguson, Missouri said "hands up, don't shoot" before a police officer shot him? Right. It was total fiction. But the media reported it, and the result was weeks of riots. It helped give rise to a completely false narrative that racist white cops all over the country were hunting down innocent black men who had done nothing wrong, and shooting them just because they were black. As a result, we got riots in more cities and several police officers murdered. So, Hillary, if you want to ban "fake news," there's where you can start - with your protectors at the Washington Post, who have pushed this phony narrative more shamelessly than any media outlet in the country.

The Washington Post, the New York Times and CNN likely wouldn't last a week

One wonders exactly how Hillary would have us address "fake news." Perhaps she could use the Obama Administration's wars against for-profit colleges and payday lending companies as models. There is always some sort of regulatory assault you can undertake against any target if you don't care about their constitutional rights. Perhaps anyone who reports a story that turns out not to be true, and results in someone getting hurt, becomes the automatic target of a Justice Department investigation so intense and vindictive that they have no hope of surviving. The Washington Post, the New York Times and CNN likely wouldn't last a week. Anyhoo, not gonna happen. Hillary isn't going to be president so she will not have the chance to carry on "Harry Reid's legacy" as she seriously said with no hint of irony. But the political class will be railing against "fake news" for the foreseeable future - at least the fake news that's not written by them. They can't handle the competition.
