Brian Williams - yes that Brian Williams - deeply concerned about the scourge of 'fake news'

Once upon a time, Brian Williams was a famous, well-respected, news man. These days, he's more famous for being the disgraced anchor who squandered his credibility on a series of self-aggrandizing lies. ...Sorry, I believe we're still supposed to call the "misremembrances" or something.

His habit of personal embellishment finally cost him his anchor gig

For over a decade, NBC News turned a blind eye to the lies, exaggerations, and "errors." Eventually, though, the truth caught up to him. His habit of personal embellishment finally cost him his anchor gig and sent him into a career exile. When he returned, he found himself banished to the forgotten wastelands of the MSNBC gulag. Despite several efforts to tunnel out or escape in a balloon, he remains there to this day. To put it bluntly, Williams made himself the poster boy for fake news. Which is why it's so, so, funny that he thinks he's qualified to comment on the role "fake news" allegedly played in the 2016 election.

Williams complaining about fake news is like Johnny Appleseed carping about "all these damn apple trees."

Williams should be thanking God that fake news exists. If it didn't, MSNBC wouldn't be on the air and he'd still be wandering the streets somewhere carrying a sign that says "will read fake news for food." Williams complaining about fake news is like Johnny Appleseed carping about "all these damn apple trees." Once you’ve admitted peddling falsehoods to the American people, you don't get to turn around and whine about the peddlers.
