The trick in being a good salesman is the ability to talk people into buying their product or service. Some sales people have the ability to talk the talk but have a fatal flaw that prevents them from doing well. They don’t know when to shut up. They talk the potential customer into buying what they’re selling but, by talking too much they end up talking the buyer out of the purchase. Sales people have to know when to stop talking and close the deal.

A perfect example of talking too much is John Kerry. In his speech about the UN resolution against Israel that the U.S. abstained from rather than using its veto, Kerry went on and on. The resolution was not that complicated; had Kerry wanted to explain both the resolution and the administration’s position on it, he could have accomplished that in 10 minutes. But Kerry could not stop talking and showing his anger at Israel. The longer he talked, the clearer it became the main reason there is no peace is that Israel continues to build settlements. The longer he talked, the more apparent it was that Israel’s security against Palestinian terrorism was not really important.

By continuing to speak he made his position clear; Israel can either be a democratic state or a Jewish state but cannot be both. Since Kerry and Obama love democracy (at least when they are able to run it), Kerry in effect said he wants to rid the world of the only Jewish state.
The mainstream media, especially CNN, the Washington Post and the New York Times is like the salesman who does know when to stop talking. This was readily observable when Donald Trump first entered the Republican primary.
As we all know, Trump did not pull any punches. He spoke about how criminals were coming in from Mexico and about the need to prevent Muslims from entering the United States, at least until they could be properly vetted. Trump’s statements were certainly worthy of reportage and even criticism. But the left wing media could not leave it alone. Pundits by the dozens sat around tables and continued to discuss everything Trump said and then concluded “he’s finished.” And every time the media predicted Trump’s demise, his poll numbers went up. The more the media criticized Trump, the more ordinary people were able to say they agreed with him.

It is certainly doubtful Trump could have won the primary and later the presidency were it not for the help of media. By showing their disdain for Trump, they showed their contempt for ordinary Americans who believe in secure borders and fighting terrorism. The media gave up all pretense of being unbiased. Those who did not believe the media had a strong left wing bias or those who never paid particular attention to media spin could not help but notice how in the tank the media was for Hillary Clinton and how much the media looked at ordinary people with disdain.
But those on the left don’t get it, and almost two months after the election it is doubtful they ever will. They are right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong. Hillary lost the election because of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and of course those pesky Russians. The fact Clinton was corrupt and her presidency would constitute Obama’s third term never crossed their closed minds.
All of which brings us to Barack Obama’s post-January 20 world. Obama has made it clear he and his classless wife are not going anywhere. It’s understandable he does not want to go back to Chicago where they apparently shoot black people for sport but that does not mean he has to stay in Washington. But he’s going to stick around to give the new president a hard time. And like the mainstream media, it will backfire with ordinary Americans.

Narcissist that he is, Obama will be a constant presence on MSNBC and CNN. He won’t be able to stay out of the spotlight and the media will not be able to get enough of him. Obama will continue blaming everything that goes wrong in America on the Republicans, Fox News and conservative talk radio. Like the mainstream media since Trump announced he was entering the presidential race, the more he publicly attacks Trump, the more ordinary Americans will be drawn to support Trump.
Obama will serve to further decimate the Democrat Party that began in earnest after he was first elected. Like the talking heads, the more he talks, the better it will be for Trump.
Trump can only benefit from Obama’s continued presence in the public eye. Obama will only serve to remind Americans how his presidency changed the United States and not for the better. If the Trump presidency turns out to be a disaster it will be because of something Trump did, not because of anything Obama does or says. Obama will become as relevant to ordinary Americans as Don Lemon and Martha Raddatz are.
The more Obama puts himself out there, the more people will be reminded how totally destructive the 44th president was. Bring it on, Barry.
