You've heard the rumblings. Hillary wants to take Bill de Blasio's job. She's gearing up to make a run for New York City Mayor. It's all rumor and innuendo at this point, but the story keeps cropping up, seemingly with a life of its own. ...And it makes a certain amount of sense.
A quick glance at the popular vote will tell you that Hillary is still beloved in the Dem strongholds of New York and California. The rest of the country may be sick of her, but her small, bi-coastal, party still holds sway on the Atlantic and Pacific. She carpetbagged her way into a New York Senate seat and liberals love reminiscing about the good old days. That nostalgia, coupled with the Clinton Foundation's need to have a player in a position of political leverage, has left-wing tongues wagging.
However, according to one of Hillary's top confidantes, it's not going to happen.
Neera Tanden says Mrs. Clinton's days of campaigning are dunzo.

Hillary Clinton confidante Neera Tanden doesn't expect the former Democratic presidential nominee to ever seek office again after her stunning defeat to President-elect Donald Trump.
"I don't expect her to ever run for any elected office again," the president of the Center for American Progress said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
Tanden was responding to reports that Clinton is considering running for mayor of New York City.
The New York Daily News reported that top Democrats are pressuring the former secretary of state to get back in the game by running for Mayor Bill de Blasio's seat.
Look, Hillary's best days are clearly behind her, and they weren't that good to begin with. Two time losers rarely turn up for a third bite at the apple (see Romney, Mitt) and given that her husband was concerned about her strength and health going into the 2016 campaign, it seems unlikely that she's eager for another grueling run. A mayoral race may not be as brutal as a presidential attempt, but it's still a slog.
It's hard to imagine that Hillary really wants to go to all that trouble - and open herself up to the possibility of an embarrassing third loss - for a consolation prize.
With a little luck, Tanden is right; Hilary has finally learned her lesson.
