'Material support to ISIL'

FBI arrests wife of Pulse Nightclub terrorist in San Francisco

You may recall that, in the wake of Omar Mateen's attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida, attention focused briefly on the killer's wife. Noor Salman told authorities that while her husband had been getting increasingly violent towards her - and had made vague references regarding his desire to carry out a jihadist attack - she had no specific information about his plans. She claimed he was abusive and dangerous, but that she never had any knowledge of the violence he would eventually perpetrate.
Now, Salman has been arrested in San Francisco. The charges seem to indicate that her initial story was false. From ABC News:
The wife of the gunman who carried out a mass shooting an Orlando, Florida, nightclub was arrested by the FBI today in San Francisco, the FBI and her lawyer said. Gunman Omar Mateen's wife, Noor Salman, was charged with obstruction of justice and with aiding and abetting Mateen's attempted provision and provision of material support to ISIL, the U.S. Attorney’s office said, referring to the terror group also known as ISIS. She is expected to appear in court on Tuesday for a first appearance, her lawyer told ABC News. Salman is expected to be extradited to Tampa, Florida, where she was indicted.

The question on everyone's mind is, what took so long? As CNN reported, they had sources telling them there was evidence of Salman's involvement almost immediately after the attack. (See Below) CNN is now reporting that sources claim the evidence "will show that she was complicit and knew her husband was going to do something bad." If this is the same evidence they had last summer, but everyone waited seven months to act, one has to wonder what the delay was all about. Were investigators simply being thorough? Were they following her to see where she'd go, or who she'd contact? Did something she said in one of her recent interviews trigger the charges? Or... Was someone holding the FBI back while the Obama administration and the press tried to sell the "murky motives/lone wolf" narrative? Hopefully Ms. Salman's arrest will lead to some answers.
