In the finest Orwellian language, they claim people who sneak across the border are on a "migrant journey toward becoming legal American citizens."

About that 84 Lumber commercial celebrating illegal aliens . . .

Why would a lumber company get political in a Super Bowl ad? Furthermore, why would it stake out a position - celebrating illegal immigration - that cheerleads for lawbreaking? Since the ad is obviously a PR move and not designed in any way to sell lumber, it has to have one of two motives behind it: Either the company thinks the public is generally in favor of people sneaking across the border and entering the country illegally, or the company wants to get on the right side of the most militant Trump-haters in order to guard against said Trump-haters making a target of them.
All you activists who boycott and riot when someone doesn't do what you want? Don't come after us! See? We love illegal immigrants! Of course, 84 Lumber couldn't deal in a serious way with Trump's moves on border security, since it's hard to make a serious argument that a nation should not control its own border. So you virtue-signal. You imply that the "other side" (i.e. Trump and other Republicans) hate all immigrants and don't want them in the country, whereas you - open, sensitive and welcoming - extend open arms to all comers. That's not how this issue is delineated at all, but that's the real world. Let's not get ourselves caught up in that. In the imaginary world of open-borders activists, the wall doesn't mean "come in legally." It means "stay out," as if there is no way to enter the country apart from sneaking in and bypassing legal immigration processes. And in the most Orwellian turn of all, 84 Lumber says the following in its description of the video:
The full, uncut 84 Lumber Super Bowl promotional film. See a mother and daughter’s symbolic migrant journey towards becoming legal American citizens. Contains content deemed too controversial for the original ad and banned from broadcast.
Does this look like how you go about "becoming legal American citizens"?

The broad dishonesty of the left on this issue is perfectly encapsulated in this video. There is a legal process for enterting the United States. You apply for a green card. You accept conditions of your stay. You obey the laws and other conditions required for you to remain here legally. After you've lived here legally for a period of time, if you want to apply for citizenship, you can initiate that process as well. What none of this involves is sneaking across the border without permission to do so, which is exactly what the mother and daughter in this video are trying to do. Yes, they're heart-renderingly sympathetic. The perspiration under the hot sun speaks to their resolve, and the tattered, makeship U.S. flag is a lovely touch. The only problem is that this is not how you enter the United States legally, contrary to what 84 Lumber would have you believe. As for the bit at the end with the door - and the message "The will to succeed is always welcome here," well sure. Just come do it legally and you're on your way. I wonder if 84 Lumber is aware that Trump has said the "beautiful wall" will have a "beautiful door." That's symbolic, of course. The point is that we're going to control our borders, and if you want to come in, you have to go through the proscribed process and not just sneak in under cover of darkness - or in the case of the fictional characters in this ad, under a bright, hot sun. I suppose one could use that to argue this ad is really pro-Trump! Hey, Trump said there would be a beautiful door! They came through the beautiful door! It's Trump's wonderful vision!

Yeah. I don't think so. If the ad's perspective was pro-Trump then 84 Lumber wouldn't feel the need to lecture us about welcoming immigrants. They would know that we already do. We just understand that there is no contradiction between welcoming immigrants and controlling our borders. The part of the ad that was "banned from broadcast" was the part with the wall, which Fox correctly deemed to be too political. But it's worse than that. It's sanctimonious and self-righteous. 84 Lumber, unlike you, is so open-minded and willing to accept others! You should be welcoming like 84 Lumber! The CEO of 84 Lumber is Maggie Hardy Magerko. Maybe someone should ask her if she has walls on her house. I bet she does. I bet she has a door too. I bet she welcomes visitors to her house, but they have to go to the door, announce themselves and get her permission to come in. I bet if someone just sneaks into her house without permission, she's not too pleased about it. Nor should she be. She might even call the cops. She would certainly have the right to. Those walls are on that house for a reason.
