The last great hope for Hillary's failed campaign was... Tom Arnold?

I love this story. I don't believe Tom Arnold (The Stupids, Golf Punks) for a second, but I love it. In the grand tradition of Fox Mulder, "I want to believe" that it happened. The idea that Hillary Clinton had a 'Hitler in the bunker' moment where she realized all was lost, and her last, great, hope was a desperate phone call to a possibly lying Tom Arnold? That's a story so juicy and delicious that Mayor Bloomberg would have wanted it banned from New York restaurants.
The details go like this: Arnold claims to have outtakes from the Celebrity Apprentice show which feature Donald Trump using the N-word to disparage African-Americans and various other epithets targeting women. You may recall that Clinton devotees were spreading rumors about this footage back during the closing days of the 2016 race. The tape never materialized, and no one associated with the show has ever corroborated the tales - even when granted complete anonymity. According to Arnold, though, Hillary called him about the mysterious reel. Her campaign was collapsing, the Billy Bush tape hadn't had the desired impact, and the "weight of the free world" rested on the shoulders of a man who'd spent the last 20 years pretending he was just about to start filming the non-existent True Lies 2. Here's Tom Arnold, telling his story shortly before becoming the frst person voted off the Australian reality show, "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here."

As I said above, I have a hard time believing Arnold. The notion that he had in his possession the key to destroying Trump but chose to keep it confidential because he's such a swell guy? Sorry, that's just too hard to swallow - especially when he probably could have bartered the footage for just about any Clinton-backed favor imaginable. However, I can believe that Hillary caught wind of the rumor and fought back the tears long enough to dial the phone in an embarrassing, last-ditch, effort to salvage her life's work. That thought gives me a serious case of the warm fuzzies.
