Donald Trump Jr.: We've been measured in our response, but Kathy Griffin 'deserves whatever's coming to her'

After the release of the picture/video of Kathy Griffin holding President Trump's severed head, I expected the Trump family to unload on her. I expected they'd be firing insults with both barrels - the kind of fury Trump usually reserves for Rosie O'Donnell. That didn't really happen. To my surprise, they were pretty calm about it. They were angry, yes, but the usual Trump bombast didn't appear. If we're being honest, we should admit that people have received far worse for far less. …And maybe that’s the point. Maybe Griffin’s attack was so disgusting - so incredibly over the top - that they didn't need to draw attention to it. The anti-Trump left had suffered such a massive self-inflicted wound that that the Trumps could just sit back and watch it all unfold. Griffin had just exposed the inner workings of the liberal mind, photographed it, and put it on the internet for all to see.
In a backwards sort of way, it’s a gift. Now, when conservatives say “they hate you with a violent passion,” there’s photographic evidence to support the claim. This morning on Good Morning America, Donald Trump Jr. was asked about the picture, and his family’s reaction. He noted that their response was uncharacteristically muted – but wasted no time squashing the idea that anyone should have sympathy for the situation in which Griffin has placed herself.
"Naturally, I was pretty disgusted. Everyone who's watching right now saw what happened. They saw my father's response. They saw the First Lady's response about her son and how it affected him. They saw my response. I don't think we've ever been so measured, perhaps, on a relative basis. I don’t think we did anything inappropriate. But then to run and claim victimhood? She deserves everything that's coming to her."

Again, I have to say this: Imagine if a conservative celebrity - no matter how D-List they might be - had done this to Obama. Imagine if a Fox News employee - even if they were only a New Year’s Eve party host - had done this to Obama. The story would still be at the top of every network's newscast, because the Soros-funded riots would still be raging across America's urban centers. This was the absolute nadir of modern American political speech, and it was brought to you by the compassionate left. Don't forgive, don't forget, and never believe the phony apology.
