Dem base demands party double-down

Dems squander over $30 Million on GA06 loss ...err 'moral victory'

If you listen to Democrats this morning, you'll quickly realize that they think there's a silver lining to last night's epic loss in the GA06 special election. The thinking is that things got "close" in a reliably red district, so Dems should look on the bright side. "This," they claim, "is what progress looks like." The scoreboard may not show a victory, but they still think they won a "moral victory." That's fine. I'm all for Democrats who lose elections and win moral victories. They're my favorite kind of politician, and we're seeing a lot of them lately. As Frank Luntz points out:

Hollywood celebrities were endorsing the Democratic carpetbagger, and every resource of the national party was directed toward defeating Republican Karen Handel

Make no mistake: Had Ossoff won, the media would be in a frenzy this morning, gleefully reporting that the GA06 race indicated the end was nigh for GOP. Dems were all-in on this one. It was going to be their big Trump-defying moment. Money poured in from all across the country, Hollywood celebrities were endorsing the Democratic carpetbagger, and every resource of the national party was directed toward defeating Republican Karen Handel. Ossoff's victory was going to the first of many - proof that Donald Trump was destroying the evil party of rich, white, racists. Then Ossoff lost. ...And their moral victory narrative can't even stand up to some basic scrutiny.

Thirty million dollars bought them "close."

Remember, Ossoff massively outspent Handel in this race, and when all is said and done, Democrats will have burned through over $30 million. Think about that. Thirty million dollars bought them "close." For the whopping price of thirty million dollars, Democrats bought this tweet:

Now, of course, the left is fuming. According to the true believers (who seem utterly incapable of learning from their mistakes) the party keeps failing because it's not leaning far enough to the left. Dems, you see, are being too "centrist."
This is a variation on the "Bernie woulda won" theory and we should all hope they embrace it. Encourage every Democrat you know to abandon their pretenses and start nominating straight up hammer-and-sickle communists. Make sure they think it's their only path to victory. If Democrats really think this is the time to double-down on what cost them the 2016 election, who are we to stand in their way? Why, they could probably chalk up a few more moral victories! Their fantasyland will be the socialist utopia they've been working decades to achieve.

Meanwhile, we'll be in the real world - where this is happening...
