O'keefe strikes again: 'Cutesy little ethics' are 'adorable'

CNN producer caught on tape saying Russia story 'mostly bulls**t' - a witch hunt directed by CEO Jeff Zucker

Meet John Bonifield. He's the (no doubt soon-to-be former) "Supervising Producer" at CNN Health and he's been with the network for 15 years. You can check out his profile here. As far as left-leaning cable news outlets are concerned, John has just committed the ultimate sin. He's admitted what we all know is true. The Trump/Russia collusion story is a big fat pile of nothing - an evidence-free "witch hunt" designed to neuter a presidency and generate ratings. In the video below, a Project Veritas reporter with a hidden camera asks Bonifield about the collusion conspiracy theory, saying: “But honestly, you think the whole Russia # is just like, bullshit?”
Bonifield's replies are not going to help the credibility-challenged fake news network.
“I just feel like they don’t really have it but they want to keep digging. And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, look, you are witch hunting me. Like, you have no smoking gun, you have no real proof.”
Bonifield goes on to say that CNN CEO Jeff Zucker is personally steering the network toward the Russia story.
“Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN [Jeff Zucker] said in our internal meeting, he said good job everybody covering the climate accords. ...But we’re done with that, let’s get back to Russia. So, even the climate accords. He was like 'OK, a day or so, but we're moving back to Russia.'"

Then, Bonifield scoffs at the notion of ethics at CNN - or anywhere in cable news.
"All the cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about at journalism school? You're just like 'That's adorable. That's adorable.' This is a business. Especially cable news. Cable news isn't the New York Times. It's not even, like, NBC News. I mean NBC News still gets 20 million viewers a night, cable news is getting a million. So, they got to do what they got to do to make their money, I think."
Bonifield also goes into how CNN didn't scrutinize Obama in the same way because their viewers would have thought they were "attacking him." He suggests that the CNN audience would have tuned out such criticism. And, as he puts it, it's all about "ratings." CNN's ratings, he claims, "are incredible right now." As I said above, this is not surprising. We've always known this is the case. Still, you should watch the video and enjoy satisfaction of knowing that you were right all along.
