An on-air conservative political commentator for CNN said that he gets the impression from Acosta’s actions that he wants a new role at the network, according to the Washington Examiner. “He’s angling to host an opinion show,” the CNN commentator said. “These [White House] briefings are his auditions.”Acosta made himself the story last week as he jousted with White House Senior Policy Advisor Stephen Miller at a press conference about President Trump’s proposed immigration reforms. Things got pretty intense. Acosta accused Trump of pursuing a racist, even white-supremacist approach to immigration reform because the ability to speak English would be stressed among would-be immigrants. “You are sort of bringing a ‘Press One For English’ philosophy here to immigration, and that is not what the United States is about,” Acosta said. He’s not quite right. Most Americans would prefer not to have to press a button on the telephone to converse in English. They want it to be assumed they will be speaking English.
