Tax cheat frets about 'public money'

Guess what Al Sharpton thinks of the Jefferson Memorial...

“Should they take down the Jefferson Memorial?” That was the question posed to Al Sharpton by Charlie Rose. Instead of answering it, Sharpton dodged. What he said, however, was telling.
“When you look at the fact that public monuments are supported by public funds you’re asking me to subsidize the insult of my family. I would repeat that the public should not be paying to uphold somebody who has had that kind of background. You have private museums, you have other things that you may want to do there.”

Sharpton amassed a debt of $4.5 million in unpaid taxes

First off, a guy who amassed a debt of $4.5 million in unpaid taxes shouldn't be whining about where "public money" goes. He doesn't pay his taxes, so there's no reason to think any of his filthy shakedown lucre will be spent maintaining the nation's history. More importantly, this is Sharpton's way of saying "yes" without really saying it. Democrats are acutely aware that efforts by their radical base to obliterate history are going over like a lead balloon. As is the case with taxation and gun control, they can't come right out and admit what they want to do because they know it would further decimate their party. So, they're trying to walk a fine line. You can watch Sharpton do his dance at the 15:30 mark in the following video:
