I've long believed that 85 to 90 percent of success is in having the nerve to ask, or to seek, or to pursue. You might be told no. You might be ignored. If you aim high the odds are decidedly against you.
Then again, if you don't ask, you're guaranteed not to get anything. And if you do ask, hey, you never know. That's what 11-year-old Frank Giaccio of Virginia found out when he wrote a letter to President Trump offering to mow the White House lawn: Question for you today: What opportunity would you like in life? Who do you need to approach to get that opportunity? And if you give it a shot, are your odds of getting a yes any worse than Frank's were when he wrote this letter to the president? The kid is mowing the fricking White House lawn. Ask. Then tell me how it went. I'll wait.
