I loved this idea when I thought it was someone else's!

Liberal college kids love Bernie's new tax plan! ....And then they find out it's actually Trump's

Unlike some of my conservative colleagues, I'm not entirely sold on what we've been shown of the President's new tax initiative. I'm squarely in what's generally considered the middle class and, as far as I can tell, it will end up raising taxes for myself and my family. I'm willing to wait and see how it all shakes out before passing final judgment, but I'm not going to support any tax plan that doesn't represent an across the board cut for ALL Americans. Republicans have control of both houses, the Presidency, and enjoy a favorable Supreme Court, yet they're fighting for a progressive tax scheme and a budget that contains little or nothing in the way of cuts? To me, that smells suspiciously like the kind of small ball we've come to expect from the current crop of congressional squishes. I have no intention of beating the tax reform drum just because "we need to do something."
However... I do find the following clip fascinating. In it, politically minded college liberals praise Trump's tax plan - because they think it belongs to Bernie Sanders. Their knee-jerk reaction perfectly illustrates a couple of things. First, it points out that these young, supposedly-engaged leftists have no idea what they're talking about. You don't need to be a hardcore policy wonk to know that this is Trump's plan. Anyone who's seen a newscast in the last month should be able to peg these as Trump talking points. Second, it shows that identity politics has all but consumed the modern political debate. The merits of ideas are irrelevant - all that matters is the (D), (R), or (I) after the politician’s name. Watch, and be amazed, as the cult of personality comes crashing down...
