Racism claims are on steroids

Corn Pops, Racism claims are on steroids The Corn Pop characters on a Kellogg's cereal box are shown shopping, playing in an arcade and frolicking in a fountain. What struck Saladin Ahmed was that a single brown corn pop was working as a janitor operating a floor waxer. Ahmed took to Twitter a week ago to ask, "Why is literally the only brown Corn Pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? This is teaching kids racism." Really! Do you think Kellogg did that intentionally? We don't know, but he saw racism.

Disrespect for the U.S. flag and the national anthem

Several TV commercials for products have been accused of racism because of the role for black actors versus how white actors were used. A Dove soap commercial comes to mind. It's soap not racism in my mind. A black activist by the name of Tamika Mallory claimed last week that she was a victim of racial bias when an American Airlines pilot ordered her off a flight after a dispute with another airline employee over her seat. We don't know the details, but Ms. Mallory saw racism and the NAACP backed her claim, and called for all black people to not fly American Airlines. Disrespect for the U.S. flag and the national anthem, based on the assumption that injustice in America is rampant, is a false conclusion. Injustice in America is not rampant, but those who have jumped on the band wagon see racism. When President Trump said "get him out of here" after a black attendee to a Trump rally tried to disrupt the rally, the liberals and the media saw racism. Never mind that Trump would have done the same thing if the disrupter had been white, because I would have done the same thing no matter the color. When I have lunch with a group of friends, some are black and some are white. I don't take a head count to see if it is statistically balanced by color, or if they ordered fried chicken, collard greens and corn bread! I don't care! I suspect that some situations are motivated by racism. But I have no doubt that most situations are not motivated by racism.

Never be a prisoner of your past, become the architect of your future

Here's the point! If you are looking for racism you will see it, and the liberal media are more than happy to help you broadcast your claim, whether it's true or not. It's one of their most popular divisive tactics. We know that this nation has had some dark times in its history, such as slavery, injustice, inequality, disrespect and racism. But the founders set the bar high to inspire us to overcome those national character flaws. We have come a long way, and our past is not our future. Our future as a nation and as individuals is based on opportunities and unity, when we see beyond color, ethnicity and things that may not be there. If you are looking for racism, then you might miss an opportunity. "Never be a prisoner of your past, become the architect of your future." - Robin Sharma
