Christians In Name Only, Born Again Believers--BUT

A Come to Jesus Meeting

When I wrote my book Doubt Free Living it wasn’t intended to be a ‘first’ or even a best seller.

The premise was simple. There are too many CINO’s (Christians In Name Only) and Babbuts (Born Again Believers--BUT) they are stagnant in their faith! The idea was to encourage lazy Christians to come back to their first love-- Jesus Christ. The reaction was very positive, but it came from reliable sources. Like regular church goers and students of the Bible. Reaching the lost and the lazy is a mission and a ministry that needs to be ramped up in America if we are ever going to have society, government, and indeed the church itself reflective of the standards of scripture. I speak with fellow pastors who say they ‘wish’ the flock would get inspired and come back to the vibrant church of yesteryear. But the real problem is there are way too many puppets in the pulpits of America preaching anything but the word of God. There are those who are so comfortable tending to the flock a couple days a week and enjoying the perks of a pastor that to even seek a vision of what Christ would have the church do is out of the question. Now I realize there are many clergy toiling away in small churches-- often they are a staff of one! Society looks at their work as folly while admiring the mega mouths of mega churches whose ability to make a fortune far surpasses their ability to make disciples. Fellow pastors, it is time to stop wishing. It is time to take the passion you have for Christ and put it on display in the church and outside the church. Jesus said to GO preach the Gospel, making disciples along the way. Get out of your study, out of your office, and into the community. A passionate pastor spreading God’s word beyond the Sunday service-- into the recesses of his community-- will be effective for Christ’s church. You don’t have to be a Billy Graham or a Rick Warren to be a great witness for Him. You just need to stop playing it safe and comfortable. If you’re not on fire for Jesus Christ, if you’re not apprehended by His call, if you’re not toiling and laboring for Him, maybe you should have a real come to Jesus meeting! The greatest leaders in Christ’s church today are not the TV Pastors pumping out best sellers based on a social gospel and sketchy interpretation of scripture. They aren’t the men and women who command highly paid speaking engagements or even their own radio shows. The greatest leaders of today’s church are indeed the passionate pastors joyfully grinding out their ministry within the communities where God has placed them.
