America's Next Top President? Kanye West anounces 2020 candidacy, will challenge President Trump

Back in the '80s, the woefully underappreciated Max Headroom show posited a future where each TV network would select a presidential candidate and whoever got the best ratings would win the nation's top job. The basic gist of it was "American politics as reality show" and, at the time, it was a fairly novel concept. Unfortunately, we now live in something akin to that world and the old show is looking eerily prescient.

When 2020 rolls around, we'll all enjoy watching a new show called "The Most Powerful Man in the World: Celebrity Edition." In it, the titans of reality television will compete in a series of head to head challenges to earn the title of America's Next Top President. Here's Kanye, dropping the bombshell at last night's MTV VMA's: The rapper wasted no time laying claim to his status as an "outsider" by saying that he "wasn't no politician" and admitting that he was high from smoking "something." Obviously, those are bold moves in the early days of any presidential bid. Kanye's campaign theme song appears below. Ladies and gentlemen, we should warn you: The President of the United States is not safe for work:
