And they had guts to call McCarthy a Witch-Hunter

"McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence." -- [Wikipedia, "McCarthyism"] According to criminal charges filed at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and made public earlier, today, Paul Manafort and Richard Gates face accusations of subversion and treason on behalf of the Government of Ukraine. The charges against them were based on their alleged attempts to hide from the U.S. authorities the payments that they received from the Ukraine's Government, and on lavish lifestyles that they enjoyed in the U.S. as a result of the said payments. And so it goes.

I can't help noticing some creepy parallels of the above indictment and the political arsenal that Left (should I just say "Goodleft" in the spirit of Orwell's "Principles of Newspeak"?) has been using in its attacks against our free Constitutional Republic for more than half century, now. Among those, accusations of hiding income form the US authorities and commitment of crime of lavish lifestyle seem so much in line with Left's standard lines against those skeptical to the Leftist ideology. They bring to mind trials of "dissenters" from the Soviet ideology during the so-called "Great Purge" in the late 1930s Soviet Union under the direction of Nikolai Yezhov, the head of the Soviet secret police. Make no mistake. Although Special Prosecutor Mueller is not Nikolai Yezhov, the reason why he is conducting his investigation is not to fight the crime but to inflict some serious damage to the so-called "Right" (should I just say "Badright"?) and to discredit the duly elected President who, allegedly, won the election largely due to support of the so-caller "Right-wing conspirators". Time will show how much, if any, evidence of subversion and treason the Special Prosecutor and his team collected against the accused. Because as of now, the Left is doing very much the same thing what they accused U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy of doing in 1947 - 1956; a selective witch-hunting that spares the real corruption of former US Government officials in their sellout of American interest and property to Russia's ruling clique while picking on all those who may be associated with the dissenters from the Left's cause. It is not pure projection (the attribution of one's own, usually sinister, tendencies to others). It is turning the reality upside-down. Literally.
