Bernie Sanders ignores actual Hillary conspiracy to pin his wife's FBI investigation on Trump conspiracy

Yesterday, we talked about how Bernie ran away from questions regarding a certain FBI bank fraud investigation and the fact that he and his wife have "lawyered up." Today, we have a new clip. In this one, Bernie is hit with a question he can't dodge, so he goes all-in on conspiracy theories about how Donald Trump tried to destroy his campaign. That's right, how Donald Trump tried to destroy his campaign. The question came from CNN's Erin Burnett:
"My wife is about the most honest person I know. When she came to that college, it was failing financially and academically. When she left it, it was in better shape. Five years later, just at the moment - coincidentally, no doubt - when I am a candidate for president of the United States, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, a vice chairman of the Republican Party in Vermont, launched this investigation.
So, all I will tell you now, Erin, is it is a sad state of affairs in America not only when we have politicians being destroyed — when there are attacks against elected officials, but when you go after people’s wives. That’s pretty pathetic. And that’s where we are right now, and that’s all that I want to say."
"That's all I want to say" is a little like issuing a statement before pleading the 5th. It just "ain't gonna fly." The problem, of course, is that this isn't simply a "Vermont Republican" thing, and it may not just be about Bernie's wife. That would be bad enough, but there are questions about Bernie too. The FBI is investigating whether Mrs. Sanders committed bank fraud, that's a federal crime, and there's reason to believe they're also looking into whether Bernie used his position to pressure the bank into issuing a dubious loan. Burnett pressed, wondering if Sanders was aware of that. Bernie wouldn't answer.
"That's all that I want to say and we'll let it play out. But I think it’s fairly pathetic that when people are involved in public life, it’s not only they get attacked, but it is their wives and their families that get attacked. That’s what this is about.”

So, investigations are fine when it's everyone else - and they should be exploited for political gain. However, when they center on the Sanders family, they're meaningless, vindictive, witch hunts based on conspiracy theories. Good to know. This is hilarious because, as we all know, the real 2016 conspiracy was playing out on his own side of the aisle. Leaked emails show Hillary Clinton was working with political operatives, pressuring media allies, and even conspiring with the DNC itself - all in an effort to squash Bernie. If Bernie needs to blame his misfortunes on tinfoil-hattery, perhaps he should start there.
